Sasson Jeans was an American apparel brand. The brand was founded by Maurice Sasson and by Paul Guez in 1976. History The brand was created in 1976. At one point, it had a heavy advertisement campaign that included sponsoring boxers such as World Boxing Council Heavyweight world champion Larry Holmes and that same entity's world Featherweight champion Juan LaPorte (who was forced out of a promotional contract with Guez by boxing promoter Don King) Eddie Mustafa Muhammad was another well known, world champion boxer who was sponsored by Sasson Jeans; he fought on national television in the United States with shorts advertising the brand. The World Boxing Council (WBC) is an international professional boxing organization. It is among the four major organizations which sanction professional boxing bouts, alongside the World Boxing Association (WBA), International Boxing Federation (IBF) and World Boxing Organization (WBO). Many historically high-profile bouts have been sanctioned by the organization with various notable fighters having been recognised as WBC world champions. Larry Holmes
Larry Holmes (born November 3, 1949) is an American former professional boxer who competed from 1973 to 2002 and was world heavyweight champion from 1978 until 1985. He grew up in Easton, Pennsylvania, which led to his boxing nickname of the "Easton Assassin". Holmes' left jab is often rated among the best in heavyweight boxing history. In addition to holding the WBC heavyweight title from 1978 to 1983, Holmes held the '' Ring'' magazine and lineal heavyweight titles from 1980 to 1985 and the inaugural IBF heavyweight title from 1983 to 1985. Donald King (born August 20, 1931) is an American boxing promoter, known for his involvement in several historic boxing matchups. He has been a controversial figure, partly due to a manslaughter conviction and civil cases against him, as well as allegations of dishonest business practices by numerous boxers. Eddie Mustafa Muhammad (born Edward Dean Gregory; April 30, 1952) is a former professional boxer and the former WBA Light Heavyweight Champion of the World. He is currently a boxing trainer. He has also been an occasional actor. Amateur career Boxing under his birth name, Eddie Gregory, Muhammad won two New York Golden Gloves Championships. Gregory won both the 1971 and the 1972 New York Golden Gloves 147 lb Open Championships. Gregory defeated future middleweight champion Vito Antuofermo in the 1971 finals and in 1972 defeated Patrick Maloney of the Leatherpushers Athletic Club to win the Championship.
