The river has its sources in springs located to the south of Tikenekti village, Nura District. It heads roughly southwards all along its course. Kabyrshakty
Kabyrshakty (; ) is a salt lake in Zhanaarka District, Ulytau Region, Kazakhstan. The A17 Highway passes close to the southern lakeshore. The lake basin is a seasonal grazing ground for local cattle. Geography Kabyrshakty is an endorheic lake in the Sarysu basin. The lake is elongated, stretching roughly from north to south. The coast is flat, indented in the northern, eastern and western sides. Reeds grow on the shores of the lake. There is a separate small lake close to the southern shore. Lake Meshkeysor lies to the northwest.Google Earth The lake freezes in November and stays under ice until April. It fills during the spring thaw with river Saryozen flowing into it from the north and flooding it in years of abundant snowfall. Ulytau Region (; ) is a region of Kazakhstan. The administrative center of the region is the city of Jezkazgan. The area split off from Karaganda Region in 2022. The region's borders roughly correspond to the western half of the old Jezkazgan Region which was liquidated in 1997 and merged with Karaganda Region. Google Earth is a web mapping, web and computer program created by Google that renders a 3D computer graphics, 3D representation of Earth based primarily on satellite imagery. Endorheic
An endorheic basin ( ; also endoreic basin and endorreic basin) is a drainage basin that normally retains water and allows no outflow to other external bodies of water (e.g. rivers and oceans); instead, the water drainage flows into permanent and seasonal lakes and swamps that wiktionary:equilibrate, equilibrate through evaporation. Sarysu (river)
The Sarysu (, ''Sarysu''; , ''Sarysu'') is a river in Karaganda, Ulytau, Turkistan, and Kyzylorda Regions of Kazakhstan. It is long, and has a drainage basin of . The name ''sary su'' means ''yellow water'' in Turkic languages. Course It arises above Zhanaarka and flows generally westward towards Kzyl-Dzhar where it turns south-westward past Birlestik and Zhanabas, then heading ever-more southerly it ends in the Telikol, across a cluster of small intermittent lakes at the western end of the Ashchykol Depression and to the east of the Dariyaly plain. Nura District
Nura District (, ) is a district of Karaganda Region in central Kazakhstan. The administrative center of the district is the settlement of Nura. The district has a population of 22,569 as of 2019. Geography The district is located in the Kazakh Uplands. Rivers Kulanotpes and Sonaly, and lakes Kerey, Kypshak, Kiyakty and Shoshkakol are located in the district. History During the 1890s, a number of Ukrainians, Russians, and Germans began constructing settlements in the area, which was already home to approximately 330 villages of the native Kazakh people.
