Kabyrshakty
Kabyrshakty (; ) is a salt lake in Zhanaarka District, Ulytau Region, Kazakhstan. The A17 Highway passes close to the southern lakeshore. The lake basin is a seasonal grazing ground for local cattle. Geography Kabyrshakty is an endorheic lake in the Sarysu basin. The lake is elongated, stretching roughly from north to south. The coast is flat, indented in the northern, eastern and western sides. Reeds grow on the shores of the lake. There is a separate small lake close to the southern shore. Lake Meshkeysor lies to the northwest.Google Earth The lake freezes in November and stays under ice until April. It fills during the spring thaw with river Saryozen flowing into it from the north and flooding it in years of abundant snowfall. Sentinel-2
Sentinel-2 is an Earth observation mission from the Copernicus Programme that acquires optical imagery at high spatial resolution (10 m to 60 m) over land and coastal waters. The mission's Sentinel-2A and Sentinel-2B satellites were joined in orbit in 2024 by a third, Sentinel-2C, and in the future by Sentinel-2D, eventually replacing the A and B satellites, respectively. The mission supports services and applications such as agricultural monitoring, emergencies management, land cover classification, and water quality. Kazakh Semi-desert
The Kazakh semi-desert is an ecoregion in the deserts and xeric shrublands biome, located in Kazakhstan. The climate is semi-arid and continental, with a total annual precipitation of , and mean temperatures in January averaging and in July . It is a transitional area between the steppes and the deserts of Central Asia and supports flora found in both biomes, predominantly grasses, particularly ''Stipa'' species, and shrubs such as ''Artemisia (genus), Artemisia'' species. A number of mammals and birds are found in this ecoregion but the habitat is threatened by overgrazing and habitat fragmentation, fragmentation from human wikt:encroachment, encroachment. Endorheic Lake
An endorheic lake (also called a sink lake or terminal lake) is a collection of water within an endorheic basin, or sink, with no evident outlet. Endorheic lakes are generally Saline water, saline as a result of being unable to get rid of solutes left in the lake by evaporation. These lakes can be used as indicators of Human impact on the environment, anthropogenic change, such as irrigation or climate change, in the areas surrounding them. Lakes with subsurface drainage are called ''cryptorheic''. Components of endorheic lakes The two main ways that endorheic lakes accumulate water are through river flow into the lake (discharge) and precipitation falling into the lake. Sarysu (river)
The Sarysu (, ''Sarysu''; , ''Sarysu'') is a river in Karaganda, Ulytau, Turkistan, and Kyzylorda Regions of Kazakhstan. It is long, and has a drainage basin of . The name ''sary su'' means ''yellow water'' in Turkic languages. Course It arises above Zhanaarka and flows generally westward towards Kzyl-Dzhar where it turns south-westward past Birlestik and Zhanabas, then heading ever-more southerly it ends in the Telikol, across a cluster of small intermittent lakes at the western end of the Ashchykol Depression and to the east of the Dariyaly plain. River Boktykaryn runs parallel to it just before the Sarysu bends west towards the Telikol. |
Endorheic
An endorheic basin ( ; also endoreic basin and endorreic basin) is a drainage basin that normally retains water and allows no outflow to other external bodies of water (e.g. rivers and oceans); instead, the water drainage flows into permanent and seasonal lakes and swamps that wiktionary:equilibrate, equilibrate through evaporation.
