The Sandhu or Sindhu clan (Punjabi: ਸੰਧੂ (Gurmukhi); سندھو (Shahmukhi)) is the second-largest clan of Jats in the Punjab, spanning both India and Pakistan. The Sandhus have had a significant impact on Sikh history, founding several Sikh states, including the Nakai Misl, Shaheedan Misl, and Kanhaiya Misl. Banita Sandhu (born 22 June 1997) is a Welsh actress. Known for her work in Indian cinema, she made her film debut with the 2018 Hindi-language film ''October'', going on to star in the Tamil-language production '' Adithya Varma'' and the CW series ''Pandora'' (both 2019). Gurinder Singh Sandhu (born 14 June 1993) is an Australian international cricketer who plays for Queensland in Domestic cricket. Nakai Misl
The Nakai Misl ( (Gurmukhi), (Shahmukhi)), founded by Sandhu Jat people, Jats, was one of the twelve Sikh Confederacy, Sikh Misls (groupings with their distinct guerrilla militia) that later became part of the Sikh Empire. It held territory between the Ravi River, Ravi and Sutlej rivers southwest of Lahore in what became Pakistan. The misl fought against the Sial (tribe), Sials, the Pathans and the Kharals before it was incorporated into the Sikh Empire of the Sukerchakia Misl by Ranjit Singh. Gurbaksh Singh Sandhu
Gurbaksh Singh Sandhu (), also spelled as Gurbax/Gurbux Singh Sandhu, was the national boxing coach of India. He started coaching the India National Team from the year 1993. He was influential in bringing a medal to India in 2008 Summer Olympics, when Vijender Singh of India won bronze, which was the first ever medal for India in Boxing at Olympics. He has also helped Indian boxers in their performances in World Championship. He stopped coaching boxing of India until July 2013. Avtar Singh Sandhu
Avtar Singh Sandhu (9 September 1950 – 23 March 1988), who wrote under the pen name Pash, was an Indian poet, one of the major poets in Punjabi of the 1970s. He was killed by Sikh extremists on 23 March 1988. His strongly left-wing views were reflected in his poetry. Early life and activism Pash was born as Avtar Singh Sandhu in 1950 in a small village called Talwandi Salem in Jalandhar district of Punjab, India, in a middle-class farmers family. Bhai Bala
Bhai Bala (; 1466–1544) was a companion of Guru Nanak. Born in Talwandi into a Sandhu Jat family, Bala was also a close associate of Bhai Mardana. Kanhaiya Misl
The Kanhaiya Misl was one of the twelve misls of the Sikh Confederacy. It had been founded by Sandhu Jats. History Jai Singh Sandhu (son of Khushal Singh) of the village Kanha (district Lahore) was the founder of this ''Misl''; hence the misl came to known as Kanhaiya Misl; another founder leader of this Misl was Amar Singh of Kingra village. Qadir Yar
Qadir Yar (1802–1892), born Qadar Baksh, was a Muslim Sandhu Jat and a poet of the Punjabi language. Born in Gujranwala, he wrote Punjabi Qissa like ''Qissa Purana Bhagat'', ''Raja Rasal''. Life Qadir Yar was born in the village Machhike, in Gujranwala District in Punjab (now in Pakistan) during the rule of the Sikh Empire. He belonged to an agriculturalist family and was Sandhu by caste. The details of his life are not available, except that he received his education at the village mosque. He was the court poet of the Lahore Sikh Darbar, during the reign of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. Works Qadir Yar started his literary career with ''Mehraj Nama'' (1832), the longest poem composed by him and containing 1014 couplets. Baba Deep Singh
Baba Deep Singh (26 January 1682 – 13 November 1757) is revered among Sikhs as one of the most hallowed martyrs in Sikhism.
