Samuel Thorsteinsson
Samúel Pétursson Thorsteinsson (1 January 1893 – 25 November 1956) was an Icelandic footballer and a physician. He played in seven matches for the Denmark national team in 1918 and 1919. Playing the right outside forward position, he won the Danish football Championship in 1919 and 1921 as part of Akademisk Boldklub. He also played briefly for the Italian Naples Foot-Ball & Cricket Club, becoming the first Nordic footballer to compete in Italy. Family Thorsteinsson was born in Bíldudalur, Iceland, to Icelandic entrepreneur Pétur J. Thorsteinsson and Ásthildur Guðmundsdóttir. Bíldudalur
Bíldudalur () is a village situated on the coast of Arnarfjörður, one of the Westfjords in Iceland. It is situated in the Vesturbyggð municipality and has 238 inhabitants (as of January 2021). The village prospered in the 19th century thanks to sound business enterprise and the booming fishing industry. Ólafur Thorlacius (1761–1815) set up business in Bíldudalur following the end of the Danish trade monopoly. He was one of the most influential businessmen in Iceland at the beginning of the 19th century. He bought and sold fish, traded goods and ran his own small fishing fleet. One of his successors, Pétur J. Thorsteinsson (1854–1924) successfully continued this operation. In the late 20th and early 21st centuries, the decline of the fishing industry and the imposition of strict quotas by the Icelandic government led the town to diversify its economy. Guðmundur Pétursson Thorsteinsson (5 September 1891, Bíldudalur – 27 July 1924, Søllerød), better known as Muggur, was an Icelandic painter, graphic artist, author and film actor. Akademisk Boldklub are a Danish professional association football club based in Copenhagen, who currently play in the Danish 1st Division. They have played at their current home ground, the Gladsaxe Stadium, since 1938, but were founded much earlier, in 1889. They were one of the founding clubs of the Football Tournament in 1889. Since that time the club's first team has competed in numerous nationally and internationally-organised competitions. All players who have played in 25 or more such matches are listed below. Friðþjófur Thorsteinsson Pétursson (28 August 1895 – 13 April 1967) was an Icelandic footballer, coach and former chairman of Fram. He is considered one of Iceland's first great footballers. Early life and family Friðþjófur was the son of the entrepreneur Pétur J. Thorsteinsson and Ásthildur Guðmundsdóttir. He was born in Bíldudalur, Iceland, and later grew up in Copenhagen and Reykjavík. Among Friðþjófur's siblings were Gunnar Thorsteinsson, who for a time was the chairman of Fram and Samúel Thorsteinsson, one of the leading footballers that Iceland has produced and later a member of the Denmark men's national football team.
