Sam Grimley
Sam Grimley (born 3 January 1991) is a former Australian rules football player who played for the Hawthorn Football Club and Essendon Football Club in the Australian Football League. After Hawthorn won the 2008 premiership, the Hawthorn recruitment officer concentrated on the younger players in the 2009 AFL draft. Grimley was a third-round selection (Hawthorn), No. 39 overall. The lightly built former junior basketballer came to Hawthorn as a long-term project. After three years of development, the club started seeing good results. Grimley spent much time close to goal in 2012, hoping to set himself up as a forward/ruck option. He played six games in Box Hill's senior team early in the year but suffered a hand injury. Northern Knights Football Club
The Northern Knights is an Australian rules football club playing in the Talent League, the top statewide under-18 competition in Victoria, Australia. They are based in Preston, representing the northern suburban area of Melbourne. The Knights are one of the six original clubs set up as part of a plan by the Victorian State Football League to replace the traditional club zones with independent junior clubs. This was to help aid in player development and the process of the AFL draft, which allows U18 players the opportunity to be selected by AFL clubs. Northern Knights have had many of their players drafted into the AFL, including the first two selections in the 2007 AFL Draft, Matthew Kreuzer and Trent Cotchin, and the fifth selection in the 2008 AFL Draft, Michael Hurley. The West Australian Football League (WAFL) is an Australian rules football league based in Perth, Western Australia. The Queensland Australian Football League (QAFL) is an Australian rules football competition organised by the AFL Queensland, contested by clubs from South East Queensland. Ken Grimley
Ken Grimley (born 7 February 1936) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Fitzroy in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Grimley was a rugby league full-back while growing up in Brisbane and only took up Australian football after leaving school. He started out in the Wilston Grange junior team but soon broke into the seniors and in 1955 played in the club's first ever QANFL premiership. The following year he was the league's top goal-kicker with over 100 goals. He spent just one season at Fitzroy, having been invited to the club by officials he met during an exhibition game in Brisbane. In just his second appearance, but first full game, Grimley kicked six goals from full-forward against Geelong at Kardinia Park. After he returned to Wilston Grange in 1958 he is credited as having convinced the club to adopt a Gorilla as their logo, which Fitzroy had changed from the previous year.
