Samuel Crouser (born December 31, 1991) is an American javelin thrower. He is a 2015 alumnus of the University of Oregon. High school career While a senior at Gresham High School (Oregon), Gresham High School, Crouser was named Gatorade Player of the Year awards, Gatorade High School Track and Field Athlete of the Year in 2010. He was also ''Track and Field News'' "High School Athlete of the Year." On May 1, 2010, he set the United States high school national records in track and field, national high school record at . Track and field (or athletics in British English) is a sport that includes Competition#Sports, athletic contests based on running, jumping, and throwing skills. The Pac-12 Conference is a collegiate List of NCAA conferences, athletic conference in the Western United States. Mason Finley (born October 7, 1990), is an American shot putter and discus thrower. He was on the track and field team at the University of Kansas before transferring to the University of Wyoming. He qualified for the 2020 Summer Olympics in discus. Early life Finley was born in Kansas City, Missouri. He attended Buena Vista High School (where he also played basketball and football) in Buena Vista, Colorado, and then the University of Kansas, before transferring to the University of Wyoming. Sam Barlow High School
Sam Barlow High School (SBHS, colloquially Barlow) is a public high school in Gresham, Oregon, United States, in the Gresham-Barlow School District. It was named after the Oregon pioneer Sam Barlow. History Sam Barlow High School opened in September 1968 in its present location at 302nd Street and Lusted Road, east of Gresham, Oregon. Teacher Stephen Corkett received the University of Oregon's high school teacher of the year award in 2009. On November 23, 2009, two students discussed plans for a school shooting at Barlow High on Myspace. They were found guilty of disorderly conduct in February 2010. On October 5, 2017, around 11AM, a 911 call was reported about a potential shooting as they saw a student with a handgun. The school was under lockdown for 2 hours before being lifted at around 1PM. Brian David Crouser (born August 9, 1962) is a retired javelin thrower from the United States, who twice (1988 and 1992) competed at the Summer Olympics during his career. Biography Brian Crouser was born to Larry and Marie Crouser, in early August 1962. At the age of nine, Brian witnessed a life-altering event. This event was the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, Germany. He immediately became interested in the throwing events, practicing the shot, discus, and javelin, in his backyard in a quiet, suburban, neighborhood in Gresham, Oregon. Brian attended Gresham High School, and participated in track and field. The World Athletics Championships, known as the IAAF World Championships in Athletics until 2019, are a biennial athletics competition organized by World Athletics, formerly International Association of Athletics Federations.
