Salme Peetson
Salme Peetson (April 29, 1885 – August 31, 1967) was an Estonian actress. Early life and education Salme Peetson was born in Narva, Estonia. She was the daughter of Jaan Peetson (1858–1936) and Louise Marie Peetson (née Holm; 1858–1932), who were workers at the Kreenholm Manufacturing Company. She graduated from the Kreenholm factory school in 1899 and initially worked as a weaver and hatmaker. Career Starting in 1900, she appeared in performances by the theater group of the Estonian temperance society . She was an operetta and stage actress at the Estonian Theater from 1909 to 1937, in 1941, and again from 1943 to 1944, and she also sang in the choir. She appeared in two films in 1929. From 1945 to 1959, she was the manager of the Estonia Theater's costume warehouse. Kreenholm Manufacturing Company
The Kreenholm Manufacturing Company (historical alternate spelling: Krenholm; ; ; ) was a textile manufacturing company located on the river island of Kreenholm in the city of Narva, Estonia, near the border with Russia. It is situated along the banks of the Narva (river), Narva river, by the large Narva Falls, from the Baltic Sea. It was founded by Ludwig Knoop in 1857, a cotton merchant from Bremen, Germany. At one point, the company's cotton spinning and manufacturing mills were the largest in the world; and Kreenholm was considered in its time to be the most important mill of the former Russian Empire, owning 32,000 acres of land and employing 12,000 people. In 1872, the Kreenholm factory was the site of the first labour strike in the history of Estonia, as well as one of the earliest labour strikes in all of the then Russian Empire. Jüri Rumm
Jüri () is a small borough () in Harju County, northern Estonia. It is located southeast of the capital Tallinn, by the Tallinn–Tartu road (E263), directly after the intersection with Tallinn Ring Road (nr. 11). Jüri is the administrative centre of Rae Parish. Jüri has a population of 3,594 as of 1 June 2023. In 2011, Jüri was the center of population of Estonia. Jüri has grown out of two parts: the centre of Sommerling Kolkhoz (former Rosenhagen Manor) in the west and a construction industry base with a residential area (former Jüri church and village) in the east. The Estonian Film Database (, abbreviated EFIS) is an electronic film database launched online in 2012. Its purpose is to thoroughly describe Estonian film heritage, to collect film information about Estonian films, their producers, content, themes, types and genres, directors, actors, and so on, and to make available as much information as possible related to these films and the Estonian film industry. The descriptions of the films are detailed with keywords, which makes it possible to search for information based on various content. The database was made public on December 12, 2012. As of the beginning of 2017, the database contained more than 16,200 full and partial records of films made in Estonia since 1912.
