Dollarid
''Dollarid'' (Dollars) is an Estonian feature film made in 1929. It was directed by Mihkel Lepper, and the screenplay was written by Konstantin Märska. The sets were designed by Elmar Jaanimägi. The film is considered lost. Plot Evi Koit, a typist from a humble background, and Gustav Mets, the son of a businessman, meet by chance on a train and fall in love. The young man's father, who is also Evi's employer, is completely against their relationship. He hopes to marry his son to a rich bride to save his bankrupt company. However, Evi then receives an unexpected inheritance, which turns the social positions of those involved upside down. Hartius Möller
Hartius Gerhard Abraham Möller (January 22, 1885 – February 19, 1942) was an Estonian actor. Early life and education Hartius Möller was born at the Hellemäe farm in Tõrma, Estonia, the son of Hans Möller (1850–1920) and Leena Möller (née Lagrum, 1849–1894). He attended Rakvere City School, the Saint Petersburg Art School, and the Stieglitz Art School. Career After graduating, Möller acted in the Vanemuine theater troupe directed by Karl Menning. On July 23, 1910, at the Hellemäe farm, Möller married the Vanemuine actress (1890–1974), whose later acting name was Mari Möldre; they later divorced. During the First World War, Möller worked in Finland as a military supplier. Later he acted in Estonia and directed provincial theaters, including the Saaremaa Summer Theater. Walter Siegfried Nikolai von Wistinghausen (stage name Willibald Wickel, June 19, 1879 – February 26, 1956) was an Estonian–German actor, journalist, translator, and writer. Early life and education Walter von Wistinghausen came from the Baltic noble family , which had been based in Tallinn since the mid-17th century. Walter von Wistinghausen was born at Tsitre Manor in Estonia, the son of the chamberlain and medical doctor (1826–1883) and his second wife, Adelheid Anna Nicolette Theophile Gräfin von Stenbock (1849–1922). The family lived in Tallinn until the father's death in 1883. From 1883 to 1885 they lived in Kolga, and in 1885 the mother and her four children moved to Tartu. Elmar Jaanimägi (sometimes also credited as Elmar Janimägi, March 4, 1907 – November 3, 1937) was an Estonian artist and caricaturist. Early life and education Jaanimägi was born in Tallinn, the son of the railway worker Hans Josua Jaanimägi (previously Janimeggi, 1873–1955) and Katharina Anette Jaanimägi (née Runge, 1878–?). He attended and studied at the State Industrial Art School from 1923 to 1924. He trained further at Anatoly Kaigorodov's studio. Career Jaanimägi first worked as a poster artist for cinemas in Tallinn and Nõmme. In 1931, he traveled abroad, where he held exhibitions of his caricatures in Latvia and Lithuania. Salme Peetson
Salme Peetson (April 29, 1885 – August 31, 1967) was an Estonian actress. Early life and education Salme Peetson was born in Narva, Estonia. She was the daughter of Jaan Peetson (1858–1936) and Louise Marie Peetson (née Holm; 1858–1932), who were workers at the Kreenholm Manufacturing Company. She graduated from the Kreenholm factory school in 1899 and initially worked as a weaver and hatmaker. Career Starting in 1900, she appeared in performances by the theater group of the Estonian temperance society . The Estonian Film Database (, abbreviated EFIS) is an electronic film database launched online in 2012. Its purpose is to thoroughly describe Estonian film heritage, to collect film information about Estonian films, their producers, content, themes, types and genres, directors, actors, and so on, and to make available as much information as possible related to these films and the Estonian film industry. The descriptions of the films are detailed with keywords, which makes it possible to search for information based on various content. The database was made public on December 12, 2012.
