Eusebia Feliciana "Sabina" Fernandes (born Eusebia Feleciana Pereira; born 13 August 1946) is an Indian actress, singer, theatrical producer, and theatre director known for her work in Konkani films and '' tiatr'' productions. Early life Fernandes was born as Eusebia Feleciana Pereira on 13 August 1946 in the village of Cortalim, Goa, which was part of Portuguese India during the Portuguese Empire (now in India). She was born to a Goan tailor, Jaime Colombano Pereira, and homemaker Severina Maria Rodrigues, who hailed from the port city of Mangalore, then part of the Madras Presidency in British India (now Karnataka, India), into a Catholic family. In her youth, she was commonly referred to as "Saibin" (), a term of endearment that evolved into the nickname "Sabina." is a type of musical theatre popular in the state of Goa on the west coast of India as well as in Mumbai and with expatriate communities in the Middle East, United Kingdom and other cities where Konkani speakers have a considerable presence. Rosario Alfred Fernandes (5 August 1932 − 21 October 2003), better known by his stage name Alfred Rose, was a Goan tiatrist. He was one of the most popular singers and composers of Konkani songs (of the ''cantaram'' category), and is routinely broadcast on the Panaji or Panjim station of All India Radio ( Akashvani). Konkani Language
Konkani () is an Indo-Aryan language spoken by the Konkani people, primarily in the Konkan region, along the western coast of India. It is one of the 22 scheduled languages mentioned in the Indian Constitution, and the official language of the Indian state of Goa.
