Sabah BC
Sabah Basketball Club, also known simply as Sabah BC or Sabah, is an Azerbaijani professional basketball team based in Baku. Founded in 2022, as a team affiliated to the Sabah FC football team, they joined the Azerbaijan Basketball League (ABL) in the 2022–23 season. They won the national championship in their debut season. As champions, they entered the 2023–24 FIBA Europe Cup qualifying rounds, as the first Azerbaijani team to play in a European competition in 18 years (after Gala Baku in 2005). Following three wins in the qualifying tournament in Skopje, Sabah qualified for the regular season. Boban Mitev was appointed as Sabah's new head coach in August 2023. On 26 January 2024 he was replaced by Rimas Kurtinaitis. Rimas Kurtinaitis
Rimas Kurtinaitis (born 15 May 1960) is a Lithuanian professional basketball coach and former player who is currently the head coach of the Lithuania men's national basketball team, Lithuania men's national team and Sabah BC. As a player, he was a member of the senior Soviet Union national basketball team, Soviet and Lithuania men's national basketball team, Lithuanian national basketball teams and won a gold medal at the 1988 Summer Olympics, 1988 Seoul Olympics. At a height of tall, he played at the shooting guard position. He is the only non-National Basketball Association, NBA player to ever participate at the NBA All-Star Weekend's Three-Point Contest, doing so in 1989, where he scored 9 points. Sabah FC (Azerbaijan)
Sabah Football Club () is an Azerbaijani professional football club based in Masazır. The team plays in the Azerbaijan Premier League, the top tier of Azerbaijani football. History Sabah were formed on 8 September 2017, joining the Azerbaijan First Division for the 2017–18 season, in which they finished 5th. After the four teams above them in the league failed or declined promotion, Sabah were granted a license to participate in Azerbaijan Premier League on 12 May 2018. 2023–24 FIBA Europe Cup
The 2023–24 FIBA Europe Cup was the 9th season of the FIBA Europe Cup, a European basketball competition for clubs launched by FIBA Europe. The season began on 18 October 2023 and ended on 24 April 2024. For this season, the number of teams in regular season was increased from 32 to 40 teams.
