Bigi Wey Sports Center
Bigi Wey Sports Center is a sports venue located in Brokopondo District, Suriname. It hosted a knockout tournament marking the 150th-anniversary of Suriname's emancipation day. In 2009, the Ilonka Elmont Foundation conducted a research into sports venues, sports needs and sports participation in Brownsweg. They inferred that Brownsweg needed a sports venue and planned to make one. Brownsweg
Brownsweg is a town and resort in Suriname in the Brokopondo District. Its population at the 2012 census was 4,793. History The town was named after the road that leads to the Brownsberg, and the Brownsberg Nature Park. It is situated near the Brokopondo Reservoir. In 1958 Brownsweg was built for the inhabitants of the area that was flooded after the construction of the Afobaka Dam. One of the main concerns was the transmigration of the 5,000 people living in the area. Bronsweg was a stop at the former Lawa Railway, and in 1959 the Prinses Marijke camp was built near the hamlet. The resort consists of the villages Wakibasoe 1, 2, 3, Bierhoedoematoe, Kadjoe, Nieuw Ganze, Djankakondre, Makambi, and Nieuw-Koffiekamp. Brownsweg is often used to refer to most villages, because they have grown together, except for Bierhoedoematoe and Nieuw-Koffiekamp which are still detached. SVB Eerste Divisie
The SVB Eerste Divisie is the highest football championship for clubs run by the Surinaamse Voetbal Bond. The Topklasse is at the top of the system of Surinamese football championships. The league currently comprises twelve teams and operates a system of promotion and relegation. Seasons run from November to June of the next year, with teams playing 30 games in the regular season. The league was known as the Hoofdklasse but became Topklasse beginning with the 2016–17 season, and then from the 2017–18 season forward, the Eerste Divisie. The 2022–23 SVB Tweede Divisie was the 65th official season of the SVB Tweede Divisie, the 2nd division of Suriname. Sunny Point won the Second Division, but were not promoted due to the new formation of the Suriname Major League. The season had a delayed beginning, and began on 10 January 2023. SVB Lidbondentoernooi
The SVB Derde Divisie ( en, Member Associations Tournament) is an annual football tournament organized by the Surinamese Football Association (SVB) since 2006. It is also known as the SURIBET Lidbondentoernooi due to sponsorship. The tournament is contested by the winners and runners-up of the districts leagues from the 20 regional member associations of the SVB.
