Secure Service Network
In computer security, a DMZ or demilitarized zone (sometimes referred to as a perimeter network or screened subnet) is a physical or logical subnetwork that contains and exposes an organization's external-facing services to an untrusted, usually larger, network such as the Internet. The purpose of a DMZ is to add an additional layer of security to an organization's local area network (LAN): an external network node can access only what is exposed in the DMZ, while the rest of the organization's network is protected behind a firewall. The DMZ functions as a small, isolated network positioned between the Internet and the private network. This is not to be confused with a DMZ host, a feature present in some home routers that frequently differs greatly from an ordinary DMZ. The name is from the term ''demilitarized zone'', an area between states in which military operations are not permitted. Rationale The DMZ is seen as not belonging to either network bordering it. This metaphor a ...

Superior Salivatory Nucleus
The salivatory nuclei are two general visceral efferent fiber, general visceral efferent Nucleus (anatomy), nuclei located in the caudal pons, dorsal and lateral to the facial nucleus. Their neurons give rise to preganglionic nerve fibers, preganglionic Parasympathetic nervous system, parasympathetic nerve fibers in the control of Salivary gland, salivation.Digital version The superior salivatory nucleus supplies fibers to the intermediate nerve (part of the facial nerve (CN VII). The inferior salivatory nucleus supplies fibers to the glossopharyngeal nerve (CN IX). The nuclei may also be involved in parasympathetic control of (extracranial and intracranial) head vasculature. Superior salivatory nucleus The superior salivatory nucleus (or nucleus salivatorius superior) is a visceral motor cranial nerve nucleus of the facial nerve, facial nerve (CN VII). It is located in the pontine tegmentum. It projects pre-ganglionic visceral motor parasympathetic efferents (via Facial nerve, C ...

Socialist Solidarity Network
The Socialist Solidarity Network was a grouping of socialists in the United Kingdom most of whom were former members of the Socialist Party. They supported the Socialist Alliance in England and support the Scottish Socialist Party in Scotland. The SSN's supporters included Lesley Mahmood, a long-time member of the Militant group, and Phil Hearse, former editor of '' Socialist Outlook''. In 2002, the Network absorbed the Socialist Democracy Group. In 2003, launched the publication '' Socialist Resistance'' together with the International Socialist Group The International Socialist Group (ISG) was a Trotskyist organisation in Britain. It was the British section of the Fourth International (FI) until 2009 when it dissolved into Socialist Resistance. Origin The ISG was the result of the 19 .... The Seed Savers' Network
The Seed Savers' Network (SSN) is an Australian not-for-profit organisation, based in Byron Bay, New South Wales. Since 1986, SSN has organised gardeners and farmers to collect, multiply and redistribute garden seeds in Australia and also within peasant organisations worldwide. SSN operates on the premise that seeds are best kept in their socio-cultural context. It promotes conservation and development of agricultural biodiversity in situ, that is, on-site with growers, rather than in seed banks. The organisation educates the public on the importance of locally saved seeds, their heritage and associated cultural diversity. It has produced three books and two documentaries. History SSN was founded in 1986 by Michel and Jude Fanton. Jude is the daughter of Sally and Graham F Smith, the latter a long-time peace activist in Adelaide and inspiration for the Graham F. Smith Peace Foundation. Michel is the son of Claudine and Henri Fanton, the latter a member of the French Resistance ...

Species Survival Network
__NOTOC__ The Species Survival Network (SSN), founded in 1992, is an international coalition of over 80 non-governmental organizations (NGOs) committed to the promotion, enhancement, and strict enforcement of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). Through scientific and legal research, education and advocacy, the SSN is working to prevent over-exploitation of animals and plants due to international trade. The trade in parrots for pets, alligator hide handbags, dried seahorse curios, elephant ivory, and ramin pool cues—just a few examples of the billion dollar international trade in wildlife and plants. Few people realize the scope and impact of this trade that has been responsible for the decline of wild populations of a number of species of animals and plants. SSN believes that such trade can occur only when evidence positively demonstrates that survival of the species, subspecies or populations and their role in the ecosyst ...

Space Surveillance Network
The United States Space Surveillance Network (SSN) detects, tracks, catalogs and identifies artificial objects orbiting Earth, e.g. active/inactive satellites, spent rocket bodies, or fragmentation debris. The system is the responsibility of United States Space Command and operated by the United States Space Force and its functions are: * Predict when and where a decaying space object will re-enter the Earth's atmosphere; * Prevent a returning space object, which to radar looks like a missile, from triggering a false alarm in missile-attack warning sensors of the U.S. and other countries; * Chart the present position of space objects and plot their anticipated orbital paths; * Detect new artificial objects in space; * Correctly map objects traveling in Earth orbit; * Produce a running catalog of artificial space objects; * Determine ownership of a re-entering space object; * The Space Surveillance Network includes dedicated, collateral, and contributing electro-optical, passi ...

Subsystem Number
Signalling Connection Control Part (SCCP) subsystem numbers are used to identify applications within network entities which use SCCP signalling. GSM and UMTS SSNs In Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) and Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS), subsystem numbers may be used between Public land mobile networks (PLMNs), in which case they are taken from the globally standardized range (1 - 31) or the part of the national network range (129 - 150) reserved for GSM/UMTS use between PLMNs. For use within a PLMN, numbers are taken from the part of the national network range (32 - 128 & 151 - 254) not reserved for GSM/UMTS use between PLMNs. The following globally standardized subsystem numbers have been allocated for use by GSM/UMTS: 0 Not used/Unknown 1 SCCP MG 6 HLR (MAP) 7 VLR (MAP) 8 MSC (MAP) 9 EIR (MAP) 10 is allocated for evolution (possible Authentication Centre). SIM Serial Number
A typical SIM card (mini-SIM with micro-SIM cutout)A SIM card or SIM (subscriber identity module) is an integrated circuit (IC) intended to securely store an international mobile subscriber identity (IMSI) number and its related key, which are used to identify and authenticate subscribers on mobile telephone devices (such as mobile phones, tablets, and laptops). SIMs are also able to store address book contacts information, and may be protected using a PIN code to prevent unauthorized use. SIMs are always used on GSM phones; for CDMA phones, they are needed only for LTE-capable handsets. SIM cards are also used in various satellite phones, smart watches, computers, or cameras. The first SIM cards were the size of credit and bank cards; sizes were reduced several times over the years, usually keeping electrical contacts the same, to fit smaller-sized devices. SIMs are transferable between different mobile devices by removing the card itself. Technically, the actual physical car ...
