Sakıp Sabancı Museum
The Sabancı University Sakıp Sabancı Museum () is a private fine arts museum in Istanbul, Turkey, dedicated to Islamic calligraphy, calligraphic art, religious and state documents, as well as paintings of the Ottoman Empire, Ottoman era. The museum was founded by Sakıp Sabancı, and was opened in June 2002. Aside from permanent exhibitions, the museum also hosts national and foreign temporary exhibitions and, hosts cultural events on the weekends. Ssm6a (''Scolopendra subspinipes mutilans'' 6), or μ-SLPTX-Ssm6a, is a toxin from the venom of the Chinese red-headed centipede. It has strong analgesic properties, probably owing to its strong inhibitory effects on Nav1.7 channels. Sources Ssm6a is purified from the venom of the Chinese red-headed centipede, ''Scolopendra subspinipes mutilans'', found in Southeast Asia. Biochemistry Family Ssm6a is part of the scoloptoxin family (SPLTX), together with Ssm1a, Ssm2a, and Ssm3a, all found in the venom of the centipede. Synthesis The mature form of Ssm6a is composed of 46 amino acids. It is the result of posttranslational modification of a prepropeptide. The prepropeptide is 112 amino acids long. ''Startups, shutdowns, and malfunctions'' (SSM) are periods of non-continuous operation in refineries, chemical plants or similar industrial facilities. During such temporary periods, these plants might emit larger amounts of pollution, and therefore the pollution abatement equipment may be unable to effectively control it. Recognizing this problem, beginning in 1994 the American Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) allowed such facilities to release large amounts of otherwise prohibited air pollution during SSM. In dynamical systems, a spectral submanifold (SSM) is the unique smoothest invariant manifold serving as the nonlinear extension of a spectral subspace of a linear dynamical system under the addition of nonlinearities. SSM theory provides conditions for when invariant properties of eigenspaces of a linear dynamical system can be extended to a nonlinear system, and therefore motivates the use of SSMs in nonlinear dimensionality reduction. SSMs are chiefly employed for the exact model reduction of dynamical systems. For the automated computation of SSMs and the analysis of the reduced dynamics, open source online software packages such as SSMTool and SSMLearn have been published. Semi-solid metal casting (SSM) is a near net shape variant of die casting. The process is used today with non-ferrous metals, such as aluminium, copper, and magnesium. It can work with higher temperature alloys that lack suitable die materials. The process combines the advantages of casting and forging.
