The SR-2 "Veresk" (, English: Calluna, Heather) is a Russian submachine gun designed to fire the 9×21mm Gyurza pistol Cartridge (firearms), cartridge. History Development of a new submachine gun chambered for the 9×21mm Gyurza cartridge (also used by the SR-1 Vektor, SR-1 "Vektor" pistol) was launched in the mid-1990s on the request of Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB). A weapon was presented in 1999, developed by TsNIITochMash in Klimovsk, which received the designation of SR-2 (, English: Special Development 2) and nicknamed "Veresk" ("Calluna, Heather"). "Veresk" and its round were created as a compact weapon capable of engaging enemies wearing Russian class-II body armor (able to stop ordinary pistol bullets, such as 9×19mm Parabellum and 7.62×25mm Tokarev), and soft-skinned vehicles, at distances up to 200 metres. PP-2000
The PP-2000 (Russian: ПП-2000) is a submachine gun made by the KBP Instrument Design Bureau. History The PP-2000 was first publicly displayed at the Interpolytech-2004 exhibition in Moscow even though its patent was filed in 2001 and issued in 2003. In 2008, the PP-2000 was adopted as one of the two standard SMGs of the Russian police (along with the Vityaz-SN). In the beginning of October 2023, it was reported that the PP-2000 would become a part of Russian pilots survival kit. Design The PP-2000 is a conventional blowback-operated weapon and weighs 1.5 kg (3.3 lb) empty. The PP-2000 is designed as a close-quarter combat weapon, intended for riot police and special operations forces. PP-19-01 Vityaz
The PP-19 Vityaz (also known as the PP-19-01 "Vityaz-SN") is a 9×19mm Parabellum submachine gun developed in 2004 by Russian small arms manufacturer Izhmash. "Vityaz" (витязь) is Russian for "brave warrior" or "knight". Design The PP-19 Vityaz is directly developed from the PP-19 Bizon. Operation The PP-19 Vityaz is a selective fire submachine gun that uses a simple closed bolt, straight blowback method of operation. The PP-19 Vityaz is based on the AK-74 and offers a high degree of parts commonality with the AK-74. As such, it has no gas system and the internal components have been modified accordingly. The bolt carrier with integral charging handle is similar to AK-family, however the piston rod and rotary bolt were removed and a weight on the bolt extends into the previous gas tube.
