SNCF Class Z 20900
The SNCF Class Z 20900 is a Bilevel rail car, double-deck, Multi-system (rail), dual-voltage electric multiple unit trainset that is operated on RER C, line C of the Réseau Express Régional (RER), a hybrid Commuter rail, suburban commuter and rapid transit system serving Paris and its Île-de-France suburbs. The 54 four-car trains were built by a consortium of France, French manufacturer Alstom and Canada, Canadian conglomerate Bombardier Transportation, Bombardier between 2001 and 2004. The first set was placed into regular passenger service in July 2001. They are the final equipment produced as part of the Z 2N series of trainsets, which were continuously improved over several generations. The introduction of the Z 20900 allowed for the oldest equipment on the RER C to be scrapped. RER C
RER C is one of the five lines in the Réseau Express Régional (English: Regional Express Network), a hybrid commuter rail and rapid transit system serving Paris, France and its suburbs. The line crosses the region from north to south. The line runs from the northern termini Pontoise (C1), Versailles-Château-Rive-Gauche (C5) and Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines (C7) to the southern termini Massy-Palaiseau (C2), Dourdan-la-Forêt (C4), Saint-Martin d'Étampes (C6) and Versailles-Chantiers (C8). The SNCF Class Z 5600 is a double-deck electric multiple unit trainset that is operated by SNCF on line C of the Réseau Express Régional (RER), a hybrid suburban commuter and rapid transit system serving Paris and its Île-de-France suburbs and the TER Bourgogne-Franche-Comté regional rail system. The 52 trainsets were built by a consortium of , TCF, and TCO between 1982 and 1985. The Réseau Express Régional ( en, Regional Express Network), commonly abbreviated RER (), is a hybrid commuter rail and rapid transit system serving Paris and its suburbs. It acts as a combined city-centre underground rail system and suburbs-to-city-centre commuter rail. In the city centre it acts much like the Paris Métro, though faster, having fewer stops.
