SNCF Class Z 5600
The SNCF Class Z 5600 is a Bilevel rail car, double-deck electric multiple unit trainset that is operated by SNCF on RER C, line C of the Réseau Express Régional (RER), a hybrid Commuter rail, suburban commuter and rapid transit system serving Paris and its Île-de-France suburbs and the TER Bourgogne-Franche-Comté regional rail system. The 52 trainsets were built by a consortium of , TCF, and TCO between 1982 and 1985. The Z 5600 trainsets proved successful and became the basis for the Z 2N series of trainsets, which were continuously improved over several generations. The Z 2N series was also the basis of the later MI 2N family of double-deck, dual power trainsets. Transilien Line R is a railway line of the Paris Transilien suburban rail network. The trains on this line travel between Paris-Gare-de-Lyon in central Paris, as well as from Gare de Melun, Melun station in the suburbs, and the south-east of Île-de-France region. The MI 2N (French: ''Matériel d'Interconnexion à 2 Niveaux'', English: ''two-level interconnection rolling stock'') is a family of double-deck, dual-voltage electric multiple unit trainsets that are operated on the Réseau Express Régional (RER), a hybrid suburban commuter and rapid transit system serving Paris and its Île-de-France suburbs. There are two variants of the MI 2N that look very similar but feature different motorization and interior layout: * The MI 2N "Altéo" is operated by RATP on the RER A line. 43 trains or 215 cars were built. * The Class Z 22500 (MI 2N "Eole") is operated by SNCF on the RER E line. 53 trains or 265 cars were built. RER D
RER D is one of the five lines in the (English: Regional Express Network), a hybrid commuter rail and rapid transit system serving Paris and its suburbs. The line crosses the region from north to south, with all trains serving a group of stations in central Paris, before branching out towards the ends of the line. The line connects Creil in the north to Melun and Malesherbes in the south, passing through the heart of Paris. Line D also links Gare du Nord with Gare de Lyon via Châtelet-Les Halles. SNCF Class BB 8500
The SNCF Class BB 8500 class are part of a series of electric locomotives built by Alsthom for SNCF. They are the direct current version of the 25 kV alternating current SNCF BB 17000 and dual system SNCF BB 25500. The locomotives are fitted with monomotor bogies with two different gear ratios. This allows them to increase their tractive effort in exchange for a reduction in their top speed. This makes them suitable for both freight and passenger trains. They acquired the nickname ''Danseuses'' (dancers) due to their tendency to sway from side to side at speed, which led to them being ''blacked'' at a number of depots. By contrast, a locomotive-hauled train has all of the carriages unpowered.
