Bettina Röhl (born 21 September 1962) is a German journalist and author. She is best known for her writings about West German student movement, student radicalism of the 1960s and the terrorist kidnappings that it spawned in West Germany during the early 1970s. Röhl has written extensively about the former Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer's time as a Putzgruppe, left-wing militant leader. She has also researched and written at length about her own mother, journalist and Red Army Faction terrorist Ulrike Meinhof. Her assessments of the violence associated with the Red Army Faction in the 1970s are at times intensely critical. Klaus Rainer Röhl (1 December 1928 – 30 November 2021) was a German journalist and author, best known as founder, owner, publisher and editor-in-chief of , the most influential magazine on the German political left from the 1960s to the early 1970s. He later became critical of communism and leftist tendencies. Journalism Known as "K2R", Röhl founded the left-wing monthly magazine '' Studentenkurier'' in 1955. Röhl had been a secret Communist since 1951, and the magazine survived due to funding from the Communist East German government. In 1957, the magazine was renamed and rose to prominence in the 1960s as the primary magazine of the Außerparlamentarische Opposition and the German student movement. He had previously founded a weekly newspaper about and for the Hamburg sex trade, ''St Pauli Nachrichten''. Karl Peter Röhl (12 September 1890 – 25 November 1975) was a German painter and graphic artist. Life and work Born in Kiel, Röhl undertook an apprenticeship as a painter upon leaving school in 1906. He then attended at schools of applied arts in Kiel and Berlin between 1907 and 1911 continuing his studies at the Weimar Saxon Grand Ducal Art School under Walther Klemm and Albin Egger-Lienz. In 1914 he was asked to organize an exhibition by Johannes Molzahn. In the same year, he was drafted into the military and took part in the First World War until 1918. Röhl returned to Kiel and in 1919 organized the exhibition "Special Exhibition of the Expressionist Working Group Kiel" (Kiel Revolutionary Expressionists) together with Werner Lange and Friedrich Peter Drömmer. Maria Christina Röhl (26 July 1801 – 5 July 1875) was a Swedish portrait artist. She made portraits of many of the best known people in Sweden in the first half of the 19th century. Her paintings are exhibited at the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm. The Swedish Royal library has a collection of 1800 portraits by her. Elisabeth Röhl; née Elisabeth Gohlke (22 August 1888 – 21 September 1930) was a German politician, social reformer and women's rights activist. She served as a member of the National Assembly from 1919 to 1920, and as a member of the Landtag of Prussia from 1921 until her death in 1930.
