Rumst (, old spelling: ''Rumpst'') is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Antwerp. Since 1976 the municipality not only comprises Rumst proper but also the towns of (old spelling: ''Reeth'') and , which were independent municipalities before that year. Industry in Rumst, like Boom, was heavily focused around the production of clay products like bricks. This industry has largely disappeared after 1970. In Rumst, the river Rupel starts as a combination of the Dijle and Nete (river) rivers. In 2021, Rumst had a total population of 15,146. The total area is 19.90 km² (7.7 sq mi). Rupel
The Rupel () is a tidal river in northern Belgium, right tributary of the Scheldt. It is about long. It flows through the Belgian province of Antwerp. It is formed by the confluence of the rivers Dijle and Nete, in Rumst. It flows into the Scheldt at Schelle. Towns along the Rupel are Rumst, Boom, Niel and Schelle. The Rupel is navigable, and forms part of the waterway to Brussels. Kristof Calvo
Kristof Calvo y Castañer (born 30 January 1987) is a Belgian politician. He is a member of the Flemish left-wing green party. At the moment he is a federal representative. Since 2014, Calvo is parliamentary group leader of Groen in the federal Chamber of Representatives. Since January 2013, he has been a councillor in Mechelen. Calvo was born in Rumst to a Spanish Catalan father, himself born in Barcelona but who migrated to Belgium with his family in 1960, and a Belgian mother. At home the family spoke Dutch and Kristof declared to the Barcelona's newspaper La Vanguardia in 2010 that he doesn't have enough vocabulary to speak Spanish and Catalan. Kontich (, old spelling: ''Contich'') is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Antwerp. The municipality comprises the towns of Kontich proper and Waarloos. In 2021, Kontich had a total population of 21,260. The total area is 23.67 km³. Kontich exists of three parts: Kontich Centrum, Waarloos and Kontich Kazerne. Kontich Kazerne has a big industrial center and a train station on the line between Antwerp and Mechelen. The barracks (kazerne in Dutch) which gave the name to the settlement have closed however. The Centrum part of Kontich has the town center. The E19 highway between Antwerp and Brussels passes through Kontich. Duffel
Duffel () is a municipality in the Belgian province of Antwerp. The municipality comprises only the town of Duffel proper. On 1 January 2020, Duffel had a total population of 17,664. The total area is 22.71 km² which gives a population density of 778 inhabitants per km². The area is namegiver to a certain type of coarse woolen cloth manufactured in this area from the 11th century, mainly used to make blankets, outdoor (army) coats and tot bags.
