Rubens Salles
Rubens Salles (14 October 1891 – 21 July 1934), was a Brazilian association football, footballer and manager, who played as a Midfielder (association football), midfideler. Player career Rubens Salles began his career at CA Paulistano in 1906. He became one of the club's biggest names in the 1910s, alongside Arthur Friedenreich. He won the state championship on six occasions, being one of the top scorers in the 1910 edition. He stood out for his goals from outside the box, in addition to long-distance ball passes. International career Rubens Salles played in four matches for the Brazil national team: the first in history, against Exeter City F.C., Exeter City, Brazil v Exeter City F.C. (1914), 21 July 1914, and against Argentine clubs Columbian Football Club, Columbian FC and Sportivo Barracas. 1913 Campeonato Paulista
In the 1913 season of the Campeonato Paulista, two championships were played, each by a different league. APSA Championship Before the start of the 1913 championship, a split happened within the LPF - Paulistano left the league, uncomfortable with the growing inclusion of lower-class teams, like Ypiranga and the recently joined Corinthians, in the league, in addition to the fact that the league moved its official playing field to the Parque da Antarctica Paulista (which was used by Germânia), in detriment to their own stadium, the Velódromo Paulistano, and was joined by AA das Palmeiras and Mackenzie. The new league would be called the APSA (Associação Paulista de Sports Athleticos). Paulistano won the title for the 3rd time. Three players shared the top scorer position, with 3 goals each. Copa Roca
The Roca Cup () was a football competition contested between Argentina and Brazil national teams from 1914 to 1976 on irregular basis. The Copa Roca was the first trophy, official or unofficial, ever won by a Brazil national team. History The competition was created by former President of Argentina, General Julio Argentino Roca, in 1913. A football enthusiast, Roca was at the time the Argentine ambassador in Brazil and felt matches between both countries would create a healthy rivalry and help the sport to develop. The Cup would be played each year in a different country, a fact that was actually kept in spite of the many changes to the Cup's format. The Taça Ioduran (), was the third interstate clubs competition realized in Brazil, after Taça Salutaris (1911), and Taça dos Campeões Estaduais Rio – São Paulo, Taça dos Campeões Estaduais (1913 and 1914). The tournament consists of the clash between Campeonato Paulista, São Paulo champions and Campeonato Carioca, Rio de Janeiro champions.
