Rose Queen
Rose Queen (or Apple Queen, Cotton Queen or Harvest Queen) is a local or regional tradition associated with Whitsun processions or June festivals and fêtes similar to May Queen. Annual civic honorific titles are bestowed by local election to particular individuals, typically local young women. History It is a late Victorian invention originating from North West England. In the UK it has taken place in Cheshire, Lancashire, Northwich, and Llandudno. In 1928 it was moved to Alexandra Rose Day. In the 20th-century it expanded to Nanterre near Paris. In America, the Rose Queen has been crowned in New York, West Virginia, and Texas Rose Festival. Today Popularity of the tradition has decreased over the years. Present day Queen of the Rose Parade is crowned at the annual Rose Parade, Pasadena, California, which remains a major event. Whitsun
Whitsun (also Whitsunday or Whit Sunday) is the name used in Britain, and other countries among Anglicans and Methodists, for the Christian holy day of Pentecost. It falls on the seventh Sunday after Easter and commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon Jesus’ disciples (as described in Acts 2). May Queen
In the British Isles and parts of the Commonwealth of Nations, Commonwealth, the May Queen or Queen of May is a personification of the May Day holiday of 1 May, and of Spring (season), springtime and the coming growing season. The Alexandra Rose Day is a charitable fund raising event held in June in the United Kingdom since 1912 by Alexandra Rose Charities. It was first launched on the 50th anniversary of the arrival of Queen Alexandra from her native Denmark to the United Kingdom. She requested that the anniversary be marked by the sale of roses in London to raise funds for her favourite charities. The arrival of Princess Alexandra of Denmark in the United Kingdom for her marriage to the Prince of Wales (later King Edward VII) in 1863 was a public occasion. Queen of the Tournament of Roses, more commonly known as "Rose Queen", is a young woman selected for the annual Pasadena Tournament of Roses in California, United States. Six Rose Princesses are also selected to make up the Rose Court. The Rose Court rides on a float in the Rose Parade, and become ambassadors. The Rose Parade, also known as the Tournament of Roses Parade (or simply the Tournament of Roses), is an annual parade held mostly along Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena, California, United States, on New Year's Day (or on Monday, January 2 if New Year's Day falls on a Sunday). Produced by the non-profit Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association, the parade usually starts at 8:00 a.m. Pacific Time ( UTC–8), and includes flower-covered floats, marching bands, and equestrian units. Katie Flynn
Judy Turner was an author who wrote under the pen name Katie Flynn and Judith Saxton. Her stories were inspired by hearing family recollections of life in Liverpool during the early twentieth century, and according to her publisher, her books sold more than eight million copies. Milk Queen (often called ''Dairy Princess'' or ''Milk Princess'') is the title awarded to the winner of regularly-organized competitions by Dairy Associations in many countries. Idea The Milk Queen, from a marketing point of view, is a brand or product testimonial. Similar to Apple-, Asparagus-, Beer-, Corn-, Must-, Potato- or Wine Queens she promotes a certain food group.
