Ronda Curtin Engelhardt
Ronda Curtin Engelhardt (born November 2, 1980, in Roseville, Minnesota) is an American ice hockey player and coach. She currently serves as head coach of the Minnesota Whitecaps, leading the team to an Isobel Cup victory in 2019. During her playing career with the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers ice hockey team, she was a finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Award, and was selected to the Western Collegiate Hockey Association women's team of the decade in the 2000s. Career Prior to playing for Minnesota, Curtin was a member of the United States Select Team roster that competed at the 1999 Christmas Cup tournament in Fussen, Germany, on December 27–30, 1999. Some of her teammates included future Olympians Julie Chu, Natalie Darwitz, Jenny Schmidgall and Krissy Wendell. Forward (ice Hockey)
In ice hockey, a forward is a player, and a position on the ice, whose primary responsibility is to score and assist goals. Generally, the forwards try to stay in three different lanes of the ice going from goal to goal. It is not mandatory, however, to stay in a lane. Staying in a lane aids in forming the common offensive strategy known as a triangle. One forward obtains the puck and then the forwards pass it between themselves making the goalie move side to side. This strategy opens up the net for scoring opportunities. This strategy allows for a constant flow of the play, attempting to maintain the control of play by one team in the offensive zone. The forwards can pass to the defence players playing at the blue line, thus freeing up the play and allowing either a shot from the point (blue line position where the defence stands) or a pass back to the offence. Breck School is an independent college-preparatory preK–12 school in Golden Valley, Minnesota, a suburb of Minneapolis. It was founded in 1886 and is affiliated with the Episcopal Church. Brett Engelhardt (born August 12, 1980, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin) is an American former professional ice hockey forward who last played for EHC Liwest Black Wings Linz of the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga (EBEL). Playing career After playing four seasons with the Michigan Tech Huskies, he began his professional career with the Philadelphia Phantoms organization. Having started the next season in the ECHL, he joined the St. Johns Maple Leafs. He followed the team when it moved to Toronto to become the Marlies. Before the beginning of the 2007-08 season, he signed a contract with the Detroit Red Wings. He did not make the team in training camp and joined the Grand Rapids Griffins. 2018–19 Minnesota Whitecaps Season
The 2018–19 Minnesota Whitecaps season was the first in franchise history as a member of the National Women's Hockey League, in which the team won the Isobel Cup during their inaugural year. Background On May 15, 2018, the NWHL announced that it had an agreement in principle to acquire ownership of the Whitecaps. The team is expected to join the NWHL as an expansion team for the 2018–19 season. The Premier Hockey Federation (PHF), formerly the National Women's Hockey League (NWHL), is a women's professional ice hockey league located in the United States and Canada.
