Ronald Mitchell
Ronald Mitchell (born July quarter 1902, deceased) was an English professional footballer who played as a left-half. After beginning his career as an amateur, Mitchell joined Liverpool in 1924 but failed to make a first-team appearance. In 1926 he moved to Hull City, where he spent two seasons before transferring to Nelson. Following a spell with Bristol Rovers in the 1927–28 season, Mitchell returned to non-league football, ending his career with Fleetwood Windsor Villa. Biography Ronald Mitchell was born in the town of Birkenhead in the July quarter of 1902. Before becoming a professional footballer, he worked for the locomotive manufacturer Dick, Kerr & Co. His whereabouts after his retirement from football are untraced, and his date of death is unknown. Birkenhead
Birkenhead (; cy, Penbedw) is a town in the Metropolitan Borough of Wirral, Merseyside, England; Historic counties of England, historically, it was part of Cheshire until 1974. The Football League First Division was a division of the Football League in England from 1888 until 2004. It was the top division in the English football league system from the season 1888–89 until 1991–92, a century in which the First Division's winning club became English men's football champions. The First Division contained between 12 and 24 clubs, playing each other home and away in a double round robin. The competition was based on two points for a win from 1888 until the increase to three points for a win in 1981. After the creation of the Premier League, the name First Division was given to the second-tier division (from 1992). The name ceased to exist after the 2003–04 First Division season. Ambrose Harris (29 October 1902 – 1952) was an English professional footballer who played in a number of positions, mainly as a half-back. He played in the Football League with Nelson, making almost 60 first-team appearances for the club in a four-year spell. He also played with several non-league sides throughout his career, including Barnoldswick Town. The Third Division North of the Football League was a tier in the English football league system from 1921 to 1958. It ran in parallel with the Third Division South with clubs elected to the League or relegated from a higher division allocated to one or the other according to geographical position. Some clubs in the English Midlands shuttled between the Third Division North and the Third Division South according to the composition of the two leagues in any one season. The Third Division South had been created in 1921 from the Third Division formed the previous year made up of 22 teams drawn mostly from the Southern League. Dick, Kerr and Company was a locomotive and tramcar manufacturer based in Kilmarnock, Scotland and Preston, England. Early history W.B. Dick and Company was founded in 1854 in Glasgow by William Bruce Dick. The company were initially oil refiners and manufacturers of paint used for coating the bottom of ships. They had depots and works in Glasgow, Liverpool, Newcastle, Barrow-in-Furness, Cardiff and Hamburg by 1890.
