Rona McKenzie
Rona Una McKenzie (20 August 1922 – 24 July 1999) was a New Zealand cricketer, and was the first Māori people, Maori to captain the New Zealand women's cricket team. She played as an all-rounder, Batting (cricket), batting right-handed and Bowling (cricket), bowling right-arm Fast bowling, medium. She appeared in seven Women's Test cricket, Test matches for New Zealand between 1954 and 1961, New Zealand national cricket captains, captaining in them all. McKenzie's highest score was 61 as she scored 295 runs at an average of 22.69, and she took 8 wickets at 26.75, with a best bowling of 4 for 18. She played domestic cricket for Auckland Hearts, Auckland. Her first Test series was on the New Zealand women's cricket team in England in 1954, 1954 tour of England women's cricket team, England. Takapau
Takapau is a rural town in the Central Hawke's Bay (district), Central Hawkes Bay in New Zealand. It is located 20 kilometres west of Waipukurau, off State Highway 2 (New Zealand), State Highway 2, and has a population of more than 500. Takapau was founded following a survey of the Oruawharo station. The Johnston family, who owned the Oruawharo station, helped establish many civic and religious institutions within the town. Etymology The name of the town is taken from the ''Te Takapau'' pa. History Takapau was surveyed out of the Oruawharo station on 19 September 1876, under the auspice of Sydney Johnston, who was managing the station that belonged to his father. Sydney also made donations to establish St Vincent's Church (Catholic) and St Mark's Church (Anglican), the town hall, and library.
