Romeo High School
Romeo High School is located in northern Macomb County, Michigan, United States, approximately 29 miles north of the city of Detroit. It is a part of Romeo Community Schools. Facilities On the site of the present high school, The Romeo Engineering and Technology Center was built and completed in 2003. The original plan was to create a new separate school, but funding failed, so the decision was made to build a satellite school to reduce overcrowding at the main high school. The RETC has an area of 90,288 sq.ft., covers 77 acres, and cost $12,259,836 to build. Solar panels were installed there and turned on in December 2010. The solar panels were paid for by grants and can produce upwards of 19.8 kilowatts (DC). In fall of 2019, the present high school building opened. Washington Charter Township, located within Metro Detroit, is a charter township of Macomb County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 28,165 at the 2020 census, up from 25,139 in 2010. History Washington Township was organized in 1827. It is home to the historic Octagon House, built by Loren Andrus from 1858 to 1860. The Macomb Area Conference (abbreviated to MAC) (formerly known as the Macomb Athletic Conference) is a high school sports league located in Southeastern Michigan. It is a member of the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA). John Stoughton Newberry
John Stoughton Newberry (November 18, 1826 – January 2, 1887) was an American industrialist and politician. He served as the first provost marshal for the State of Michigan and as a U.S. Representative from the state of Michigan. Early life Newberry was born in Waterville, New York, the son of Elihu Newberry and Rhoda (Phelps) Newberry. He moved with his parents to Michigan when a child, residing in Detroit, Ann Arbor, and Romeo. He completed preparatory studies at Romeo Academy and graduated from the University of Michigan in 1848 as head of his class. Under the influence of his uncle, Oliver Newberry, he spent two years in civil engineering working with the Michigan Central Railroad building the line from Kalamazoo to New Buffalo. John Lomakoski
John A. Lomakoski (November 11, 1940 – February 16, 1999) was an American football player. Early years Lomakoski was born in 1940 in Washington, Michigan, and attended Romeo High School in northern Macomb County, Michigan. He played college football for the Western Michigan Broncos from 1958 to 1961. He was twice selected as an all-conference player and was invited to play in the Senior Bowl after his senior year. Professional football He was selected by the Detroit Lions in the fourth round (48th overall pick) of the 1962 NFL draft. He signed a contract to play for the Lions in December 1961. He appeared in three games at the offensive tackle position for the team during its 1962 season. In June 1963, he signed a contract to return to the Lions, but he was released in August 1963. Nick Blankenburg (born May 12, 1998) is an American professional ice hockey defenseman for the Nashville Predators of the National Hockey League (NHL).
