Rolls-Royce Sweptail
The Rolls-Royce Sweptail is a one-off large luxury car made by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. Overview The Sweptail is based on the Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupé and hand-built over four years. Inspired by coachbuilding of the 1920s and 1930s, the car was commissioned in 2013, by a super-yacht and aircraft specialist. At the time of its May 2017 debut at the yearly Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este, it was the most expensive new automobile in the world, costing around £10 million. The Sweptail is owned by Hong Kong–based customer Sam Li, son of billionaire real estate mogul Samuel Tak Lee. A one-off vehicle is a vehicle designed for normal circulation and produced in almost single units following specific instructions from the customer. Generally the model is made on a small or large series, with significant technical, functional and aesthetic variations between each unit. The Bugatti Chiron is a mid-engine two-seater sports car designed and developed in Germany by Bugatti Engineering GmbH. Giles Taylor
Giles Taylor is a British car designer. He is the current vice president of design and chief creative officer for the Chinese state-owned FAW Group’s Hongqi marque. Taylor worked as a chief designer for Rolls-Royce, Jaguar and as an exterior designer for Citroën. His designs include the eighth generation Rolls-Royce Phantom and the redesigned Jaguar XJ (X351). Samuel Tak Lee or Lee Tak-Yee (; born April 1939) is a Hong Kong property billionaire. Early life Lee was born in April 1939. He was educated at Diocesan Boys' School in Mong Kok, before earning bachelor's and master's degrees in civil and environmental engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1964. Concorso D'Eleganza Villa D'Este
is a Concours d'Elegance event in Italy for classic and vintage cars. It takes place annually near the Villa d'Este hotel in Cernobbio, on the western shore of Lake Como in northern Italy. Since 2011, the event has taken place in the second half of May. BMW Group has organised the event, jointly with the Villa d'Este hotel, since 2009. Visitors can admire about fifty cars, all built between the 1920s and the 1970s, organized in different categories. A coachbuilder manufactures bodies for passenger-carrying vehicles. The trade of producing coachwork began with bodies for horse-drawn vehicles. The Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupé is a luxury car manufactured by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars that debuted at the 2008 Geneva International Motor Show in Geneva, Switzerland, on 6 March 2008. The platform is based on the 2003 Rolls-Royce Phantom and has styling heavily derived from the Rolls-Royce 100EX, a concept car unveiled to celebrate the company's centennial in 2004.
