Rohini Molleti, known professionally as Rohini, is an Indian actress, screenwriter, dubbing artist, and lyricist. She has mainly acted in Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu films along with few Kannada films. Having started her acting career at five, she has about 130 films to her credit. Rohiṇī was a princess of the Śākyas and sister of Anuruddha. She is a Sotāpanna. Story When Anuruddha visited his family in Kapilavastu, his sister Rohiṇī refused to see him as she was suffering from a certain skin disease. Anuruddha was persistent and requested her presence. She arrived with her face covered with a cloth in shame due to her condition. Her brother advised that she sell some of her clothing and jewellery and have a refectory constructed for the Buddha and the monks, as this would bring a great deal of merit. Rohiṇī did as she was advised and was assisted by her relatives. The construction was supervised by Anuruddha. He instructed her to fill the water pots every day and sweep the floors of the hall. She did so and began to slowly recover from her disease. Once the hall was complete, the Buddha was invited to partake of alms-food. After finishing his meal, he sent for Rohiṇī. In Hindu mythology, Rohini (, ) is the first consort of Vasudeva , and the mother of the Hindu deities Balarama and Subhadra. She plays a prominent role in the upbringing of Krishna. Legend Rohini is described as the daughter of the king Bahlika, making her a cousin of Bheeshma. She is married to Vasudeva, a descendant of Yadu, a Chandravamsha king. Rohini Hattangadi (''née'' Oak; born 11 April 1951) is an Indian actress, known for her work in Marathi, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Gujarati films, and Marathi soap operas and theatre. ''Rohini'' is a 1953 Indian Tamil-language film directed by Kamal Ghosh and produced by S. Mukherjee. It is an adaptation of the Bengali novel ''Krishnakanter Uil'' () by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee. The film was released on 5 November 1953 and failed commercially. Plot A wealthy ''zamindar'' writes a will disposing of his property. He does not want to give the entire estate to his son who despises his father. The ''zamindar'' wants to give a major portion of the estate to one of his close relatives and he has a sister named Rohini, who is a widow. The ''zamindar'' son persuades Rohini to steal the will and substitute it with a counterfeit. She promptly does so, but after learning of the intentions of the ''zamindar'' son, she changes her decision and tries to replace the counterfeit with the original.
