Rohini Hattangadi
Rohini Hattangadi (''née'' Oak; born 11 April 1951) is an Indian actress, known for her work in Marathi, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Gujarati films, and Marathi soap operas and theatre. She has won two Filmfare Awards, one National Film Award, and is the only Indian actress to win the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her performance as Kasturba Gandhi in ''Gandhi'' (1982). An alumna of the National School of Drama of New Delhi, Hattangadi had worked mainly in theatre when she made her movie debut with '' Arvind Desai Ki Ajeeb Dastaan'' in 1978. Some of her noted cinematic roles were in such art films as '' Arth'' (1982), ''Party'' and ''Saaransh'' (1984). Hattangadi was mostly offered character roles in mainstream Hindi cinema after her portrayal in ''Gandhi'', often typecast in mother roles much ahead of her years. Sudhindra Sircar (15 July 1925 – 13 May 2011), also known as Badal Sarkar, was an influential Indian dramatist and theatre director, most known for his anti-establishment plays during the Naxalite movement in the 1970s and taking theatre out of the proscenium and into public arena, when he transformed his own theatre company, ''Shatabdi'' (established in 1967 for proscenium theatre ) as a third theatre group . Ebrahim Alkazi
Ebrahim Alkazi (18 October 1925 – 4 August 2020) was a Saudi Indian theatre director and drama teacher. A rigid disciplinarian, he instilled in his acting students an awe and reverence that they still carry with them, with several of them having had the privilege of continuing the practice and training in the NSD Repertory Company, an introduction made to the National School of Drama by Alkazi.
