Rocky LaPorte
Rocky LaPorte is an American actor and a stand-up comedy performer. In 2005 he had his own stand-up special on Comedy Central Presents. After the comedian Tim Allen watched Rocky on ''The Tonight Show'', he claimed Rocky as his "favorite new comic" and brought him on to play in his movie '' The Shaggy Dog''. Rocky visited Iraq with Drew Carey, and the trip became a movie called ''Patriot Act: a Jeffrey Ross Home Movie'', which aired on Showtime. He was also one of the few comedians to get a standing ovation on ''The Tonight Show with Jay Leno''. Rocky was a finalist in the eighth season of NBC's ''Last Comic Standing'' finishing in the top five, Rocky qualified to perform on the Last Comic Standing Tour, which took place in the fall of 2014. Stand-up Comedy
Stand-up comedy is a comedic performance to a live audience in which the performer addresses the audience directly from the stage. The performer is known as a comedian, a comic or a stand-up. Stand-up comedy consists of one-liners, stories, observations or a shtick that may incorporate props, music, magic tricks or ventriloquism. It can be performed almost anywhere, including comedy clubs, comedy festivals, bars, nightclubs, colleges or theatres. History Stand-up as a Western art form has its roots in the stump speech of American minstrel shows, which featured an actor in blackface delivering nonsensical monologue to the audience. While the intention of stump speeches was to mock African-Americans, they also occasionally contained political and social satire. The minstrel show would later influence theatrical traditions of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, such as vaudeville and burlesque. ''Comedy Central Presents'' is an American stand-up comedy television series created for Comedy Central. It is the network's main half-hour program which highlights either one or a series of stand-up comedians each episode. In 2011, the series ended and Comedy Central replaced it with the revamped ''The Half Hour'', now called ''Comedy Central Stand-Up Presents'', a series of 30-minute stand-up specials. Episodes DVDs Starting in 2008, Comedy Central started releasing "Best of" compilation DVDs, with uncensored audio. ''The Tonight Show with Jay Leno'' is an American late-night talk show hosted by Jay Leno that first aired from May 25, 1992, to May 29, 2009. It resumed production on March 1, 2010 and ended on February 6, 2014. ''Crazy on the Outside'' is a 2010 American comedy film starring and directed by Tim Allen. The film marks Allen's feature film directorial debut, and is notable for reuniting Allen with co-stars from many of his previous films (Sigourney Weaver from ''Galaxy Quest'', Ray Liotta from ''Wild Hogs'', Kelsey Grammer from ''Toy Story 2'' and Julie Bowen from ''Joe Somebody'').
