Robert Walsh, Queen's Counsel, QC (October 1824 – 24 August 1899) was an Australian lawyer and politician, member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly and Attorney-General of Victoria. Walsh was born in Rathfarnham, Dublin, Ireland, son of Michael Walsh, a Dublin merchant. Robert was educated at Chaill's Blackrock School and Trinity College Dublin, where he took his degree in 1846, with a moderatorship in logic and ethics. In November 1847 he was called to the Irish Bar, and in 1853 emigrated to Victoria (Australia), Victoria. Walsh practised his profession at Ballarat for some years from 1855. Robert Walsh, Jr. (1784 – February 7, 1859) was an American publicist and diplomat. Education and Europe Robert Walsh was born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1784. He was one of the first students to enter Georgetown College. He graduated in 1801 and began his law course. During a two-year tour of Europe, he contributed several articles on the institutions and laws of the United States to the Paris and London papers. Bar and literature Returning to the United States in 1808, he was admitted to the bar. In 1811 he established at Philadelphia the '' American Review of History and Politics'', the first American quarterly review. Thereafter, he devoted himself entirely to literature. The Rev. Robert Walsh, M.D., LL.D, (1772 – 30 June 1852) was an Irish clergyman, historian, writer and physician. Life Walsh was born in 1772 in Waterford, Ireland, where many of his ancestors had been chief magistrates. He entered Trinity College Dublin on 2 November 1789, where he was a friend of Robert Emmet and Thomas Moore. He was elected a Scholar in 1794, and graduated B.A. in 1796.Irish Times, 3 November 1934, p. 6 He was ordained a clergyman of the Church of Ireland and was curate of St. Canice's Church, Finglas, in County Dublin, from 1806 to 1820. Robert Walsh (medical Scientist)
Robert John Walsh (3 January 1917 - 20 July 1983) was an Australian medical scientist and geneticist. He set up the New South Wales Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service, serving as its inaugural Director for twenty years from 1946 to 1966. From 1973 to 1982, he was the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of New South Wales. His research activities covered a wide range, including iron metabolism, blood groups, genetic influences on diseases, and improving techniques and equipment for collecting, processing, and transporting blood and its products. In 1982 he was awarded Australia's highest civilian honour, Companion of the Order of Australia, for his services to medicine. Robert Walsh was an Irish Anglican priest who was the Archdeacon of Dublin from 1909 until his death on 24 February 1917. Walsh was the eldest son of John Edward Walsh, Master of the Rolls in Ireland and formerly Member of Parliament for Dublin University by his wife Blair Belinda MacNeill, daughter of Captain Gordon MacNeill. The Bishop of Waterford and Lismore is an episcopal title which takes its name after the city of Waterford and town of Lismore in Ireland. The title was used by the Church of Ireland until 1838, and is still used by the Roman Catholic Church. History The bishopric is a union of the episcopal sees of Waterford and Lismore which were united by Pope Urban V in 1363. Following the Reformation, there were parallel successions. In the Church of Ireland the see continued until 1833 when it became part of the archbishopric of Cashel. In 1838, the Anglican province of Cashel lost its metropolitan status and became the bishopric of Cashel and Waterford. Robert M. Walsh ( – ?) was an American football coach. He was the head football coach at St. Benedict's College—now known as Benedictine College—in Atchison, Kansas from 1948 to 1949, compiling a record of 4–14. In 1950, Walsh was hired as an assistant football coach at the University of Toledo to serve under head coach Bob Snyder. Walsh played college football at the University of Notre Dame as a guard, lettering in 1941. He spent one season as freshman line coach at Notre Dame, in 1942, before he was commissioned into the United States Navy in January 1943.
