Robert Neill (American Politician)
Robert Neill (November 12, 1838 – February 16, 1907) was a U.S. Representative from Arkansas. Life Born near Desha, Arkansas, Neill attended the common schools. He took a course in land surveying under a tutor in Ohio in 1859. Neill was elected county surveyor of his native county in August 1860. He entered the Confederate States Army in May 1861 and served as a private in Company K, First Regiment, Arkansas Mounted Riflemen, Gen. Benjamin McCulloch's Brigade, Army of the West. In August 1861 he was severely wounded at the Battle of Wilson’s Creek. He was promoted to first lieutenant in 1862 and to captain in 1863. He served as clerk of the circuit court of Independence County 1866-1868. He read law and was admitted to the bar in 1868 and commenced practice in Batesville in 1872. Robert Neill (Australian Footballer)
Robert Neill (born 5 January 1974) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Sydney and St Kilda in the Australian Football League (AFL) during the 1990s. Originally from the ACT, Neill appeared sporadically for Sydney before cementing his spot in the team for the 1994 season when he managed 15 games. He however failed to appear in a single game for the seniors the following year and crossed to St Kilda. Neill played in St Kilda's 1996 AFL Ansett Australia Cup winning side - the club's first AFL Cup win. He was a regular in the 1996 season and despite only playing the opening two games of 1997, he was selected on the bench for the 1997 AFL Grand Final. Robert Neill (20 January 1864 – 27 August 1930) was a New Zealand cricketer who played first-class cricket for Auckland between 1889 and 1906. Life and career Neill grew up in Britain, then migrated to New Zealand, where he became a grain merchant in Auckland. At the time of his death aged 66 in August 1930 he was chairman of the United Permanent Building and Investment Society. His wife Nina predeceased him. They had one daughter. A leg-spin bowler who usually opened the bowling, Neill took 9 for 75 in the first innings against Canterbury in 1891–92, in his second first-class match. He played for New Zealand in two matches in 1896-97: the loss to the Australians and the victory over the touring Queensland team. He again took nine wickets in an innings in 1897–98, 9 for 86 in the first innings of Auckland's loss to Canterbury. Sir Robert James MacGillivray Neill (born 24 June 1952) is a British barrister and Conservative Party politician. He has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bromley and Chislehurst since a by-election on 29 June 2006, following the death of the previous incumbent Eric Forth. He served as a Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department of Communities and Local Government from 14 May 2010 to 4 September 2012. Robert Scott Gibson Neill (24 September 1875 – 2 March 1913) was a Scottish footballer who played for Hibernian, Liverpool, Rangers and Scotland. He played at centre half and at wing half.
