Ancient Germanic
The Germanic peoples were tribal groups who lived in Northern Europe in Classical antiquity and the Early Middle Ages. In modern scholarship, they typically include not only the Roman-era ''Germani'' who lived in both ''Germania'' and parts of the Roman Empire, but also all Germanic speaking peoples from this era, irrespective of where they lived, most notably the Goths. Stéphane Robert is a French linguist based at LLACAN (CNRS) who specializes in Information Structure and cognitive linguistic issues in African languages, especially Atlantic languages. Education and research Stéphane Robert received her PhD in 1989 from the Université de Paris VII (félicitations du jury), under the direction of Antoine Culioli, with a dissertation entitled, ''Système verbal et énonciation en wolof.'' In 1996 she received her Habilitation (félicitations du jury), at the Université de Paris VII UFR de Linguistique with a Habilitation thesis entitled, ''Réflexions sur la dynamique du sens et la structuration des énoncés.'' Robert Brothers
Les Frères Robert were two French brothers. Anne-Jean Robert (1758–1820) and Nicolas-Louis Robert (1760–1828) were the engineers who built the world's first hydrogen balloon for professor Jacques Charles, which flew from central Paris on 27 August 1783. They went on to build the world's first manned hydrogen balloon, and on 1 December 1783 Nicolas-Louis accompanied Jacques Charles on a 2-hour, 5-minute flight. Their barometer and thermometer made it the first balloon flight to provide meteorological measurements of the atmosphere above the Earth's surface. The brothers subsequently experimented with an elongated elliptical shape for the hydrogen envelope in a balloon they attempted to power and steer by means of oars and umbrellas. In September 1784 the brothers flew 186 km from Paris to Beuvry, the world's first flight of more than 100 km. Luis Robert Moirán Jr. (born August 3, 1997) is a Cuban professional baseball center fielder for the Chicago White Sox of Major League Baseball (MLB). Léo-Paul Samuel Robert (19 March 1851 - 10 September 1923), also known as Paul Robert, was a Swiss painter, known for his depictions of birds and other wildlife. Early life Paul Robert was born in Biel/Bienne, Switzerland, on 19 March 1851, to , who, like his brother Louis Léopold Robert was a painter. Paul trained under his father, and then, in 1869, at the Munich Academy of Arts. After the death of his father in December 1871, he visited Verona, Venice, Ravenna, Bologna and Florence. Career After initially painting allegories, Robert turned his talents next to landscapes, and eventually to watercolours of birds and caterpillars. Louise Robert (born 1941) is a Canadian painter who uses writing in her work. Life and work Louise Robert was born in Montreal, Quebec. She is a pharmacist by training and a self-taught artist who paints by delving into the paint of her canvas. Robert incorporates writing into many of her works, a process she continues to explore. Critics say her work shows the influence of surrealistic automatic writing. Robert had her first solo exhibition in Montreal in 1969. She has been widely exhibited in Canada and internationally since the 1970s. In 1983–1984, her work was shown in a solo show at the Centre Culturel Canadien, Paris and at the Centre Culturel Canadien, Bruxelles.
