Rivière Des Hurons (Richelieu River Tributary)
The rivière des Hurons (''English: Hurons River'') flows for to the east side spill in the Chambly Basin just north of the city of Chambly. Its mouth is in the municipality of Saint-Mathias-sur-Richelieu in the Rouville Regional County Municipality, in the administrative region of Montérégie, in Quebec, in Canada. Hurons River flows through the Les Maskoutains Regional County Municipality, RCM of La Vallée-du-Richelieu Regional County Municipality, then the western part of the MRC Rouville Regional County Municipality. The latter is entirely east of the Richelieu River. Besides the village areas (or hamlets), agriculture is the main economic activity in this small valley. Huron-Wendat Nation
The Huron-Wendat Nation (or Huron-Wendat First Nation) is an Iroquoian-speaking nation that was established in the 17th century. In the French language, used by most members of the First Nation, they are known as the . The French gave the nickname to the Wendat, from the French word meaning 'boar's head' because of the hairstyle of Huron men, who had their hair standing in bristles on their heads. Wendat (Quendat) was their confederacy name, meaning 'people of the island' or 'dwellers on a peninsula'. Marieville () is a city in the Canadian province of Quebec. It is located within the Rouville Regional County Municipality in the Montérégie region about east of Montreal. The population as of the Canada 2021 Census was 11,332. History In 1708, Sieur Claude de Ramezey obtained a parcel of land which was named the Monnoir manor. Population increased starting at around 1740. It became a parish in 1832 and officially an incorporated municipality in 1858 and later an incorporated city in 1905. Mont Saint-Hilaire (; English: Mount Saint-Hilaire; ;, ; see for other names) is a mountain, high, in the Montérégie region of southern Quebec. It is about thirty kilometres east of Montreal, and immediately east of the Richelieu River. It is one of the Monteregian Hills. Mont Rougemont (; Abenaki: Wigwômedenek) is part of the Monteregian Hills in southern Quebec. It is composed of igneous rock and hornfels. The summit stands above sea level. The mountain is mostly covered with sugar maple-dominated forest. Apple orchards and vineyards are cultivated on many of the lower slopes, and much of the fruit is used to make cider. Geology The igneous material is composed almost entirely of mafic and ultramafic rock such as gabbro and olivine-bearing clinopyroxenite.
