Rik Van De Westelaken
Rik van de Westelaken (born 22 April 1971) is a Dutch television presenter. He is known for presenting television programs which include the ''NOS Journaal'', '' Peking Express'' and ''Wie is de Mol?''. Other programs include the travel show ''Rik over de grens'' and the quiz show '' 5 Golden Rings''. Career Between 1999–2016 he was one of the presenters of the ''NOS Journaal''. He switched from NOS to work for the channel Net5 in 2016. He presented the first season of the quiz show ''5 Golden Rings'' in 2017. In the same year, Van de Westelaken and Sean Dhondt presented a season of the show '' Peking Express'' in which contestants traveled from Ha Long Bay, Vietnam to Angkor Wat, Cambodia. He appeared as news presenter in the 2008 film '' Summer Heat'' and as himself in the 2009 film ''Spion van Oranje''. , he presents the current affairs television programme ''EenVandaag''. ''Wie is de Mol? Renaissance'' is a special anniversary season of the Dutch TV series ''Wie is de Mol?'' ("Who is the Mole?"). This All Star edition was announced at the end of the Season 20 finale and in celebration of the series reaching its twentieth season. The season took place in the region of Tuscany in Italy. This is the seventh season to have been filmed in Europe, following, Scotland in Season 2, Portugal in Season 3, Northern Ireland in Season 9, Iceland and Spain in Season 12, and Georgia in Season 18, respectively. ''Wie is de Mol?'' (''English'': ''Who is the Mole?'') is a Dutch adventure reality competition show. It is based on the Belgian show '' De Mol'', the original version of the format created in 1998 by Woestijnvis and broadcast on VRT. Format ''Wie is de Mol?'' is a reality television competition involving a group of candidates. These candidates travel to a foreign country where they have to complete assignments to earn money to fill the prize pot. However, one of the participants is selected as the Mole. The Mole's goal is to secretly sabotage the assignments and keep the total amount of money in the pot as low as possible. The twenty-second season of the Dutch TV series ''Wie is de Mol?'' ("Who is the Mole?") aired on 1 January 2022. This was the fifth season with Rik van de Westelaken as host. The candidates were announced on 28 August 2021 in a livestream on the ''Wie is De Mol'' website, during a live assignment in the first round of the season. During the livestream, candidates also had to appeal to the public stating that they are not the mole. The least suspected candidate would receive two exemptions, all before the first execution of the season.
