Julius Riemer
Julius Riemer (* 4 April 1880 in Berlin; † 17 November 1958 in Lutherstadt Wittenberg) was a German factory owner, natural history and ethnological collector and museum founder. Life as a factory owner and collector Julius Riemer grew up as the first child of a Berlin manufacturing family. As the eldest son, he was destined to be the main heir to the factory. His main interest throughout his life, however, was science, which he was unable to pursue due to time and family constraints. Collecting became a substitute for him here: a visit to the Museum of Natural History in Berlin, opened in 1889, together with his grandfather became a key experience for the nine-year-old Julius Riemer. Since then he collected zoological specimens. At the age of 14, he already owned more than 30 prepared animals. For this he temporarily neglected school, which led to conflicts with his family. Daniel G. Riemer (born December 10, 1986) is an American lawyer and Democratic politician. He is a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing central Milwaukee County since 2013. Early life and education Daniel Riemer was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on December 10, 1986. His father, David Riemer, had been a policy advisor and budget director for former Wisconsin governor Jim Doyle. Daniel Riemer attended Milwaukee Public Schools and graduated from Milwaukee's Rufus King High School in 2005. Yvon Riemer (born 5 October 1970) is a retired Greco-Roman wrestler from France. He medalled four times at the World Championships, winning gold in 1995, and competed at the 1992 and 2000 Olympics as a welterweight (-74 and -76 kg), finishing in 5th and 15th place, respectively. Friedrich Wilhelm Riemer (19 April 1774 – 19 December 1845) was a German scholar and literary historian. He worked in the households of Wilhelm von Humboldt and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Biography Riemer was born at Glatz. He studied theology and philology at Halle, was a tutor in the family of Wilhelm von Humboldt from 1801 to 1803, and then for nine years lived with Goethe as his literary assistant and his son's tutor. Isaac De Riemer (born about 1675, died February 23, 1730) was the 25th Mayor of New York City from 1700 to 1701. The son of Pieter De Riemer and Susanna de Forest (granddaughter of Huguenot settler Jessé de Forest), he was baptized January 10, 1666 in New York City. A prominent merchant and politician of Dutch descent, Isaac was appointed Mayor in 1700. He was a descendant of one of the oldest families of the city, and a nephew of the well-known Cornelius Van Steenwyck, the former mayor. He was also elected as Assistant Alderman of the West Ward in 1696, elevated to Alderman and Sheriff of the same ward and Treasurer of the city in 1699. Major-General Harold de Riemer Morgan DSO (12 March 18881 June 1964) was a British Army officer who served as colonel of the Royal Northumberland Fusiliers. Military career Morgan was commissioned into the British Army on 20 August 1908.
