Rico Peter (born 13 September 1983) is a Swiss bobsledder. Peter competed at the 2014 Winter Olympics for Switzerland. He teamed with brakeman Juerg Egger in the Switzerland-2 sled in the two-man event, finishing tenth. As of April 2014, his best showing at the World Championships is 6th, in 2013 four-man event. The FIBT World Championships 2013 took place at the St. Moritz-Celerina Olympic Bobrun in St. Moritz, Switzerland for the record twenty-second time, after hosting the event previously in 1931 (Four-man), 1935 (Four-man), 1937 (Four-man), 1938 (Two-man), 1939 (Two-man), 1947, 1955, 1957, 1959, 1965, 1970, 1974, 1977, 1982, 1987, 1989 (Skeleton), 1990 (Bobsleigh), 1997 (Bobsleigh), 1998 (Skeleton), 2001 (Men's bobsleigh), and 2007. Switzerland was scheduled to host the 2012 World Championships, but the 2012 location was switched to Lake Placid, New York in December 2010. The two-man bobsleigh competition at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia was held at the Sliding Center Sanki near Krasnaya Polyana, Russia on 16–17 February. On 24 November 2017, the IOC imposed a life ban on bobsledder Alexandr Zubkov. He was stripped of 2 gold medals (two-man and four-man bobsleigh). On 18 December 2017, Zubkov's two-man bobsleigh teammate Alexey Voyevoda also received a lifetime ban by the IOC due to doping violations at the 2014 Winter Olympics. On 29 November 2017, IOC also sanctioned Alexander Kasjanov for doping offences and stripped his team of their results.
