Myst (series)
''Myst'' is a franchise centered on a series of adventure game, adventure video games. The first game in the series, ''Myst'', was released in 1993 by brothers Rand Miller, Rand and Robyn Miller and their video game company Cyan Worlds, Cyan, Inc. The first sequel to ''Myst'', ''Riven'', was released in 1997 and was followed by three more direct sequels: ''Myst III: Exile'' in 2001, ''Myst IV: Revelation'' in 2004, and ''Myst V: End of Ages'' in 2005. A spinoff featuring a multiplayer component, ''Uru: Ages Beyond Myst'', was released in 2003 and followed by two expansion packs. ''Myst''s story concerns an explorer named Atrus who has the ability to write books that serve as links to other worlds, known as Ages. The State Peace and Development Council ( ; abbreviated SPDC or , ) was the official name of the Military dictatorship, military government of Burma (Myanmar) which, in 1997, succeeded the State Law and Order Restoration Council (; abbreviated SLORC or ) that had seized power under the rule of Saw Maung in 1988. On 30 March 2011, Senior general (Myanmar), Senior General and Council Chairman Than Shwe signed a decree that officially dissolved the council. SLORC succeeded the People's Assembly (Burma), Pyithu Hluttaw as a legislature and the Council of State (Myanmar), Council of State as a ruling council, after dissolving the state organs of the Socialist Republic of the Union of Burma. In 1997, SLORC was abolished and reconstituted as the State Peace and Development Council (SPDC).
