René Paredes
René Paredes (born May 15, 1985) is a Canadian professional football placekicker for the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He is a two-time Grey Cup champion after winning with the Stampeders in 2014 and 2018 and is a five-time CFL All-Star. He also won the John Agro Special Teams Award as the CFL's Most Outstanding Special Teams player in . Early life Paredes was born in Caracas, Venezuela and was raised in Pierrefonds, Quebec. He then played high school football in Miami, Florida. University career After graduating high school, Paredes returned to Montreal to play CIS football for the Concordia Stingers, where he played from 2007 to 2010. In those four years, he made 54 of 79 field goal attempts and 73 of 76 convert attempts. The 2011 Calgary Stampeders season was the 54th season for the team in the Canadian Football League and their 73rd overall. The Stampeders finished in third place in the West Division with an 11–7 record and lost the West Semi-Final game to the Edmonton Eskimos. Offseason CFL draft The 2011 CFL Draft took place on Sunday, May 8, 2011. The Stampeders had six selections in the draft, with the first coming in the third spot overall, after trading their sixth overall pick to the BC Lions. Rob Maver (born March 12, 1986) is a former professional Canadian football Punter, having played his entire 10-year football career with the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He was drafted fifth overall by the Stampeders in the 2010 CFL Draft, after being highly ranked by the CFL's Amateur Scouting Bureau. He played Canadian Interuniversity Sport football for the Guelph Gryphons. He played high school football for Turner Fenton Trojans. College career Maver attended University of Guelph where he played university football for the Guelph Gryphons as the team's placekicker and punter from 2006-2009. The Concordia Stingers are the athletic teams that represent Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. They compete with other schools in Canadian Interuniversity Sport, and more specifically in Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ; French for "Quebec Student Sports Network").
