Rembrandt Pussyhorse
''Rembrandt Pussyhorse'' is the second studio album by American experimental rock band Butthole Surfers, released on April 18, 1986. All songs were written and produced by Butthole Surfers, except for the Guess Who cover "American Woman" and "Perry", which borrows from Fred Steiner's theme music for ''Perry Mason''. Originally released on Touch and Go, the album was reissued on Latino Buggerveil in 1999. Both CD versions of the album include the 1985 ''Cream Corn from the Socket of Davis'' EP. Music ''Rembrandt Pussyhorse'' is arguably the most experimental release in Butthole Surfers' considerably experimental catalog. Making heavy use of in-studio tape editing and sound modulation, the album adds piano, organ, and violin, among other sounds, to Butthole Surfers' then-usual battery of electric guitar, bass, and dual drummers. Butthole Surfers are an American rock band formed in San Antonio, Texas, by singer Gibby Haynes and guitarist Paul Leary in 1981. The band has had numerous personnel changes, but its core lineup of Haynes, Leary, and drummer King Coffey has been consistent since 1983. King Coffey
King Coffey (born Jeffrey Coffey; 1964) is an American drummer, known for being the drummer of the Psychedelic rock, psychedelic/noise rock band Butthole Surfers. He began drumming in a Fort Worth, Texas, Fort Worth Hardcore punk, hardcore punk band called The Hugh Beaumont Experience in high school. Around that same time, he also published a fanzine called ''Throbbing Cattle''. He saw the Butthole Surfers for the first time in 1982 at a time when Scott Matthews was their drummer. Coffey replaced him in 1983 and is still the band's official drummer. In 1990, Coffey founded the independent record label Trance Syndicate, and released records by primarily Texas-based artists, including his band Drain (noise rock band), Drain. Grand Funk Railroad (often shortened to Grand Funk) is an American rock band formed in Flint, Michigan, in 1969 by Mark Farner (vocals, guitar, keyboards, harmonica), Don Brewer (drums, vocals) and Mel Schacher (bass). Mark Fredrick Farner (born September 29, 1948) is an American musician. He was the original singer and guitarist of the rock band Grand Funk Railroad, which he co-founded in 1969, and later as a contemporary Christian musician. Early life and career Farner began his career in music by playing in Terry Knight and The Pack (1965–1966), The Bossmen (1966–1967), The Pack (aka The Fabulous Pack) (1967–1968), before forming Grand Funk Railroad with Don Brewer (drums) and Mel Schacher (bass guitar) in 1969. Gibson Jerome Haynes (born September 30, 1957) is an American musician, radio personality, painter, author and the lead singer of the band Butthole Surfers. Early life and career Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Gibby Haynes is the son of actor Jerry Haynes, best known as Dallas-based children's TV host " Mr. Peppermint," and Doris Haynes. His great-uncle was Fred E. Haynes Jr., a decorated U.S. Marines Corps major general.
