King Coffey
King Coffey (born Jeffrey Coffey; 1964) is an American drummer, known for being the drummer of the Psychedelic rock, psychedelic/noise rock band Butthole Surfers. He began drumming in a Fort Worth, Texas, Fort Worth Hardcore punk, hardcore punk band called The Hugh Beaumont Experience in high school. Around that same time, he also published a fanzine called ''Throbbing Cattle''. He saw the Butthole Surfers for the first time in 1982 at a time when Scott Matthews was their drummer. Coffey replaced him in 1983 and is still the band's official drummer. In 1990, Coffey founded the independent record label Trance Syndicate, and released records by primarily Texas-based artists, including his band Drain (noise rock band), Drain. In 1995, he co-founded the Emperor Jones record label with his husband Craig Stewart. Daniel Johnston
Daniel Dale Johnston (January 22, 1961 – September 11, 2019) was an American singer, musician and artist regarded as a significant figure in Outsider music, outsider, Lo-fi music, lo-fi, and alternative rock, alternative music scenes. Most of his work consisted of cassettes recorded alone in his home, and his music was frequently cited for its "pure" and "childlike" qualities. Johnston spent extended periods in psychiatric institutions and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. He garnered a local following in the 1980s by passing out tapes of his music while working at a McDonald's in Dobie Center in Austin, Texas. His cult status was propelled when Nirvana (band), Nirvana's Kurt Cobain was seen wearing a T-shirt that featured the artpiece ''"Jeremiah the Innocent"'' from Johnston's 1983 cassette album ''Hi, How Are You''. Latino Buggerveil
Latino Buggerveil is an independent record label and publishing company that was founded by psychedelic noise-punk band the Butthole Surfers. The label's first release was the 1987 album ''A Texas Trip'', a various artists compilation which was co-released by Caroline Records. Following 1989's '' Double Live'', a limited edition release documenting the band's 1988 tour, Latino Buggerveil became largely dormant as a record company and was instead used as the new name for the group's publishing company, which until that point was known as "Second Harvest." In 1999, the Butthole Surfers reactivated the label in order to reissue most of the group's 1980s catalogue, whose rights had reverted to the group following a lawsuit with Touch and Go Records. Shit and Shine is an experimental music project based in Austin, Texas. Formed in 2004 by bandleader Craig Clouse, its percussion-driven sound mixes Noise music, noise with Electronic music, electronics. Richard Carl Buckner is an American singer-songwriter born in California, United States. After living in Edmonton, Alberta, for a number of years, he relocated to Brooklyn, New York. Background Buckner's solo career began with '' Bloomed'' (1994), a lyrically dense suite of songs recorded in Lubbock, Texas, and produced by Lloyd Maines. It was released when Buckner was the frontman of the band The Doubters, which was not achieving very much success at the time. In January 1996, while living in San Francisco, he recorded an album's worth of acoustic songs, all of which reappeared in more fully realized forms on his second and third albums.
