Remakes Of Films By Alfred Hitchcock
A number of films directed by Alfred Hitchcock have been remade, with official remakes of ''Murder!'' and '' The Man Who Knew Too Much'' being directed by Hitchcock himself. ''North by Northwest'' and '' Saboteur'' are also considered by some scholars to be unofficial remakes of Hitchcock's English espionage thriller '' The 39 Steps''. This list does not include sequels (such as the films that followed the 1960 version of '' Psycho''), but it does include films based on the same original source materials as were used by Hitchcock (such as the multiple films based on Marie Belloc Lowndes's novel '' The Lodger''). Sir Alfred Joseph Hitchcock (13 August 1899 – 29 April 1980) was an English film director. He is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in the history of cinema. In a career spanning six decades, he directed over 50 feature films, many of which are still widely watched and studied today. ''Man in the Attic'' is a 1953 American horror film directed by Hugo Fregonese and starring Jack Palance, Constance Smith and Byron Palmer. ''Once You Kiss a Stranger'' is a 1969 American thriller film directed by Robert Sparr and written by Norman Katkov and Frank Tarloff. John Llewellyn Moxey
John Llewellyn Moxey (26 February 1925 – 29 April 2019) was an Argentine-born British film and television director. He was known for directing the horror film '' The City of the Dead'' (also known as ''Horror Hotel'', 1960) and directing episodes of '' The Saint''; '' Mission: Impossible''; '' Magnum, P.I.''; and ''Murder, She Wrote''. He was sometimes credited as John L. Moxey or John Moxey. Life and career Moxey was born in Argentina in 1925. His family operated a coal and steel business out of South America at the time. Ralph Philip Thomas (10 August 1915 – 17 March 2001) was an English film director who directed the Doctor (film series), ''Doctor'' film series. Thomas cast the actor James Robertson Justice in many of his films. He often worked with the producer Betty Box, Betty E. Box, who was married to ''Carry On'' producer Peter Rogers. Early life Ralph Philip Thomas was born on 10 August 1915 in Kingston upon Hull, Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire. Thomas was a nephew of producer Victor Saville. ''The 39 Steps'' is a 1959 British thriller film directed by Ralph Thomas and starring Kenneth More and Taina Elg. Produced by Betty Box, it is a remake of the 1935 Alfred Hitchcock film, loosely based on the 1915 novel ''The Thirty-Nine Steps'' by John Buchan. In the film, diplomat Richard Hannay returns home to London, only to become inadvertently embroiled in the death of a British spy investigating the head of an organisation planning to sell the secret of a British ballistic missile. Hannay thus travels to Scotland to escape the police, and attempts to complete the spy's work. It is the first colour version of the Buchan tale, and, unlike the mainly studio-bound original, features extensive location shooting.
