Rayachoti Assembly constituency is a constituency in Annamayya district of Andhra Pradesh that elects representatives to the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly in India. It is one of the seven assembly segments of Rajampet Lok Sabha constituency. Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy is the current MLA of the constituency, having won the 2024 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly election from Telugu Desam Party. As of 25 March 2019, there are a total of 231,637 electors in the constituency. The constituency was established in 1951, as per the ''Delimitation Orders (1951)''. 2012 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly By-election
Background Andhra Pradesh entered a turbulent era in politics starting from 2009 with the movement for a separate Telangana gathering steam and the death of former Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy in a helicopter crash. Due to differences with the ruling INC, Reddy's son, Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy, then broke away to form the YSRCP and was joined by several MLAs. Eighteen MLAs were later disqualified, while Nellore's MP resigned. The ''Vidhan Sabha'' seat for Tirupati had also been vacant since 2010 when Chiranjeevi, whose PRP merged with the INC, was elected to the ''Rajya Sabha''. Gadikota Srikanth Reddy
Gadikota Srikanth Reddy is a former Member of the Legislative Assembly (Ex-MLA) of Andhra Pradesh, a state in southern India. He was elected in the 2009 general assembly elections, when he defeated the sitting MLA. Reddy is a supporter of Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, president of Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party. Gadikota Srikanth Reddy was the Chief Whip in Andhra Pradesh State Legislative Assembly from 2019 to 2024. His father, Gadikota Mohan Reddy, served as a MLA from the Lakkireddipalle constituency between 1999 and 2009. Sugavasi Palakondrayudu (3 July 1946 – 6 May 2025) was an Indian politician. Background Palakondrayudu was born in Rayachoti village, now in Cuddapah district, Andhra Pradesh, on 3 July 1946. He passed matriculation at Z.P. High School, Rayachoty. He married on 2 December 1968, and had two sons and one daughter. Palakondrayudu died while undergoing treatment for illness at a Bengaluru hospital, on 6 May 2025. He was 78.
