The election in each Assembly constituency (AC) was held in the same phase as the election to the corresponding Parliamentary constituency that the AC falls under.

On the recommendation of the
Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Governor
Surjit Singh Barnala dissolved the 11th Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly on November 14, 2003. The tenure of the 11th Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly was originally set to end on November 9, 2004. However, Chief Minister
N. Chandrababu Naidu recommended a premature dissolution, in accordance with a provision of the Constitution of India, to facilitate early elections and seek a fresh mandate.
