Randy Sexton
Randy Sexton (born July 24, 1959) is a Canadian ice hockey executive, businessman and former athlete. He is the Senior Advisor to the General Manager for the Minnesota Wild. He was the assistant general manager for the Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League (NHL) and general manager of the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League from 2017 to 2020. Prior to that, he was the director of amateur scouting for the Pittsburgh Penguins and general manager of the Florida Panthers of the NHL. He was one of the founders of the Ottawa Senators NHL club in Ottawa, Ontario. He later became the Senators' second general manager. Ben Sexton (ice Hockey)
Ben Sexton (born June 6, 1991) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey forward who played with the Ottawa Senators in the National Hockey League (NHL). A centreman, he was selected by the Boston Bruins in the seventh round, 206th overall, of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. Sexton is the son of one of the Ottawa Senators' founding partners, Randy Sexton. Playing career Collegiate Sexton played four years at Clarkson University. In his junior year, Sexton was named team captain and was named to the ECAC Hockey All-Academic team. 2009–10 Florida Panthers Season
The 2009–10 Florida Panthers season was the 17th season for the franchise in the National Hockey League. After earning 77 points in the season, the Panthers did not qualify for the playoffs. Off-season The Panthers moved their training facilities and administrative center to the 'Incredible Ice' complex in Coral Springs, Florida. A new $10 million, expansion was built to accommodate the Panthers. On June 1, 2009, General Manager Jacques Martin resigned his position to become the head coach of the Montreal Canadiens. Assistant General Manager Randy Sexton assumed the duties of general manager on an interim basis, and was named general manager just prior to the start of the season. Dale Tallon
Michael "Dale" Tallon (born October 19, 1950) is a Canadian ice hockey executive and former player. He played in the NHL for ten years as a defenceman for the Vancouver Canucks, Chicago Blackhawks and the Pittsburgh Penguins. Following his retirement as a player, Tallon began a broadcasting career with the Blackhawks lasting 16 years. In 1998, he joined the front office as director of player personnel before working his way up to general manager. Serving in the latter capacity from 2005 to 2009, he helped rebuild the team into a Stanley Cup winner in 2010, at which point he had been demoted to assistant general manager. In May 2010, he was named general manager for the Panthers for the 2010–11 NHL season, serving in that position until August 2020. 1995–96 Ottawa Senators Season
The 1995–96 Ottawa Senators season was the fourth season of the Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League (NHL). This season was plenty of change for the club. The club changed coaching staffs twice, changed their general manager and moved into the new Palladium arena in Kanata. The team again finished last in the league, even though they knocked the defending Stanley Cup champion New Jersey Devils out of playoff contention in the last game of the season, allowing the Tampa Bay Lightning to clinch the playoff berth at the expense of the Devils. Offseason Prior to the season, on August 2, 1995, Brian Smith, former NHL hockey player and sportscaster at Ottawa TV station CJOH-TV was killed. He had been the primary reporter on the Senators for the station. Alexandre Daigle
Alexandre Daigle (born February 7, 1975) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. A highly touted junior prospect, Daigle was drafted first overall in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft by the Ottawa Senators. After recording a modest career high of 51 points in three separate National Hockey League (NHL) regular seasons, Daigle briefly retired from hockey at age 25, but returned to the NHL two years later. Though he played 10 seasons in the NHL and four in the NL, he failed to live up to the high expectations put forth when he was drafted first overall, and is therefore regarded by many to have been a draft bust.
