Janine Rainforth
Janine Rainforth is a singer-songwriter who co-founded original post-punk band Maximum Joy. She returned to performing her solo music in 2014 and also formed an offshoot of Maximum Joy MXMJoY in 2016. Biography Rainforth was born in Somerset, UK. She co-founded original Bristol post punk band Maximum Joy when she was 18 years old. The band released 4 singles, the last produced by Dennis Bovell and an album on Y Records an album part produced by Adrian Sherwood in 1982. Her career in music at that time and with her band Maximum Joy was cut short by a serious violent sexual attack from within her close professional circle. She subsequently lost her performing nerve so eventually retreated from her music career. In 2014 Janine managed to overcome this and returned to performing her music in public and she released her first solo EP. In 2015 she spearheaded reforming Maximum Joy for Simple Things Bristol. Elizabeth Rainforth
Elizabeth Rainforth (1814–1877), was a British soprano opera and concert singer, and music arranger of the 19th century. Biography Elizabeth Rainforth was born in November 1814. She was the daughter of Sampson Rainforth, a custom-house officer, and she became a pupil of Tom Cooke, Domenico Crivelli, and George Perry, and subsequently, for dramatic action, of Mrs. Davison. She first sang in public at the vocal concerts, 29 February 1836, when she sang an aria from ''Der Freischütz''. Her success was so pronounced as to lead to an immediate engagement for the succeeding concert in March. On 27 October in the same year Miss Rainforth made her stage début as Mandane in Thomas Arne's ''Artaxerxes'' at the St James's Theatre, and for many seasons she was a popular dramatic singer at this theatre, the English Opera House, Covent Garden, and Drury Lane. Rainford, Lancashire
Rainford is a village and civil parish in the Metropolitan Borough of St Helens, Merseyside, England, north of St Helens. At the 2011 Census, the population was 7,779. Within the boundaries of the historic county of Lancashire, the earliest record of the village was in 1189. History Rainford is well known for its industrial past when it was a major manufacturer of clay smoking pipes. The nearby coal mines became worked out and closed before the Second World War. Until the mid-1960s, it was also a location for sand excavation, for use in the glass factories of St Helens. The Rookery is a large 17th-century manor house which was formerly a school and workhouse. Geography Rainford lies on a fertile agricultural plain and is effectively an urban island surrounded by large scale farming, mainly arable, but with some livestock herds.
