Radio XL
Radio XL is an Asian radio station to broadcast to the West Midlands from Birmingham, England. Radio XL reach is to a potential Asian audience of over 250,000 people in the 15+ age group. The station is available throughout the West Midlands on 1296 AM, DAB in Wolverhampton and Shropshire and online. The studios are at KMS House on Bradford Street near Birmingham City Centre, from where Radio XL broadcasts live. Radio XL is aimed primarily, but not exclusively, at the Asian community. Programmes are designed to reach all sections of the community by using Hindi and English languages. Digital Audio Broadcasting
Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) is a digital radio international standard, standard for broadcasting digital audio radio services in many countries around the world, defined, supported, marketed and promoted by the WorldDAB organisation. The standard is dominant in Europe and is also used in Australia, and in parts of Africa and as of 2025, countries using DAB/DMB, 55 countries are actively running DAB broadcasts as an alternative platform to analogue FM. DAB was the result of a European research project and first publicly rolled out in 1995, with consumer-grade DAB Radio receiver, receivers appearing at the start of this millennium. Wolverhampton
Wolverhampton ( ) is a city and metropolitan borough in the West Midlands (county), West Midlands of England. Located around 12 miles (20 km) north of Birmingham, it forms the northwestern part of the West Midlands conurbation, with the towns of Walsall to the east and Dudley to the south. AM Broadcasting
AM broadcasting is radio broadcasting using amplitude modulation (AM) transmissions. It was the first method developed for making audio radio transmissions, and is still used worldwide, primarily for medium wave (also known as "AM band") transmissions, but also on the longwave and shortwave radio bands. The West Midlands is one of nine official regions of England at the first level of International Territorial Level for statistical purposes. It covers the western half of the area known traditionally as the Midlands.
