Rachael Hodges
Rachael Rebecca Bland (née Hodges; 21 January 1978 – 5 September 2018) was a British journalist and presenter from Cardiff, Wales. She worked for BBC Radio 5 Live, BBC World News and ''BBC North West Tonight''. She was known for her podcast, ''You, Me and the Big C'', which was broadcast while she was ill with breast cancer, and in which she discussed issues and treatment of the disease. In the final months of her life she wrote a memoir, ''For Freddie'', which was published posthumously early the following year. Career Bland was born in Creigiau, Cardiff. She started her career presenting news bulletins with the BBC Local Radio station BBC Wiltshire. She then moved to BBC Radio 5 Live, at first reading the news on Richard Bacon (broadcaster), Richard Bacon's show, where she became the straight talking foil to Bacon on The Special Half Hour Club. MediaCityUK is a mixed-use property development on the banks of the Manchester Ship Canal in City of Salford, Salford, Greater Manchester, England. The project was developed by The Peel Group, Peel Media; its principal tenants are Mass media, media organisations and the Quayside MediaCityUK shopping centre. The land occupied by the development was part of the Port of Manchester and Manchester docks. The BBC signalled its intention to move jobs to Manchester in 2004, and the Salford Quays site was chosen in 2006. Lauren Stacey Mahon (born 2 May 1985) is a British cancer activist and founder of Girls vs Cancer, an online community raising awareness and supporting cancer patients. She was named in the BBC ''100 Women'' in 2019. Life and career Mahon was diagnosed with grade three breast cancer in 2016 and thought she was going to die because she misunderstood grade three cancer for stage four cancer, which is an advanced cancer. While being treated for cancer, she searched the internet to find people with a similar condition but could not. Dame Deborah Anne James (1 October 1981 – 28 June 2022) was an English journalist, educator, podcast host and charity campaigner from London. In 2016, she was diagnosed with incurable bowel cancer and went on to host the '' You, Me and the Big C'' podcast on BBC Radio 5 Live about her struggles with her illness. Personal life James was born in Chertsey, Surrey on 1 October 1981 to Heather and Alistair James. In slang, a troll is a person who posts deliberately offensive or provocative messages online (such as in social media, a newsgroup, a forum, a chat room, an online video game) or who performs similar behaviors in real life. The methods and motivations of trolls can range from benign to sadistic. Triple-negative Breast Cancer
Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is any breast cancer that either lacks or shows low levels of estrogen receptor (ER), progesterone receptor (PR) and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) overexpression and/or gene amplification (i.e. the tumor is negative on all three tests giving the name ''triple-negative''). Triple-negative is sometimes used as a surrogate term for basal-like. The London Marathon (also known as the TCS London Marathon for sponsorship reasons) is an annual marathon held in London, England. Breast Cancer Care is the only specialist UK-wide charity in the UK providing care, support and information to anyone affected by breast cancer.
