Eleonore von Raab, also known as Éléonore de Raab, (17551811) was an Austrian collector of minerals, whose collection was catalogued by Ignaz von Born in 1790. Personal life Von Raab was the daughter of Franz Anton von Raab (although Wilson ''Information about Von Raab is included in section 9, about the catalogue of her collection'' names her father as Bartholomeus Raab). She married the Spanish ambassador della Huerta, or Friedrich von Uberta and is sometimes referred to as "Frau von Uberta". Huber and Huber in their 2015 paper about her collection give her dates as "1755-1811, having written earlier (2009) that she "must have lived from about 1745 to about 1830", while Wilson gives her dates as "(1741–1793?)", and Schuh could only say "( 1790s)". She died in Valencia, Spain. Collection Von Raab built up a collection of about 2,500 specimens, with the assistance of Ignaz von Born. Julius Raab (29 November 1891 – 8 January 1964) was a conservative Austrian politician who served as Federal Chancellor of Austria from 1953 to 1961. Raab steered Allied-occupied Austria to independence, when he negotiated and signed the Austrian State Treaty in 1955. In internal politics Raab stood for a pragmatic "social partnership" and the "Grand coalition" of Austrian Conservatives and Social Democrats. Biography Raab was born into a middle-class Catholic family in Sankt Pölten, Lower Austria, the son of a master builder. He attended a Catholic high school and in 1911 enrolled at the Vienna University of Technology to study civil engineering. Leopold Friedrich Raab (1721 - after 1786) was a German composer and violinist of the baroque to early classical era. Raab was born in Glogau (now Głogów, Poland). He studied for several years at the leopoldinum (later to become the University of Wrocław). He also took part in performances at the catholic church there. He studied violin with a violinist named Rau before moving to Berlin to study with Franz Benda. He also began composing numerous concertos, sonatas and sinfonias in the style of his master. His name appears as a dedication on the autograph manuscript of a quartet by Johann Gottlieb Janitsch dated 1750, Potsdam alongside Johann Caspar Grundke, an oboist of Frederick the Great's Hofkapelle. Scott Raab (born March 21, 1952) is an American nonfiction author and former contributing journalist for ''Esquire''. Early years Scott Raab was born in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1952. The Raab family relocated to Los Angeles in 1960, but after his parents divorced in 1962, he returned to Cleveland with his mother and two younger brothers. Raab graduated from Cleveland State in 1983 with a bachelor's degree, and in 1986 received his Master of Fine Arts in fiction from the Iowa Writers' Workshop.
