RAI Amsterdam Convention Centre
RAI Amsterdam Convention Centre, formerly Amsterdam RAI Exhibition and Convention Centre or simply RAI Amsterdam (Dutch pronunciation: , acronym for ''Rijwiel en Automobiel Industrie''), is a complex of conference and exhibition halls in the Zuidas business district of Amsterdam, Netherlands. Opened in 1961, the RAI welcomed its 75 millionth visitor in February 2001. Up to 2 million people visit the RAI every year. Some 50 international conferences and 70 trade shows are held at the RAI annually. The complex consists of 22 conference rooms and 11 multi-functional halls and has a total floor space of 112,200 m2. The largest and oldest hall, ''Europahal RAI'', has capacity for 12,900 people. The complex also includes a musical and concert theatre and underground parking space for over 4,000 cars. Zuidas
The Zuidas (literally ''South Axis'' in Dutch) is a rapidly developing business district in the city of Amsterdam in the Netherlands. The Zuidas is also known as the 'Financial Mile'. It lies between the rivers Amstel and ''Schinkel'' along the ringway A10. The greatest influences for the development of the Zuidas are La Défense in Paris and Canary Wharf in London. In size it can best be compared with the Noordruimte/Espace Nord in Brussels. In the future, the local Amsterdam Zuid railway station is planned to become the second main station in Amsterdam. HISWA
The voluntary association HISWA is an industry trade group for the Netherlands water sports business. HISWA is famous for a twice-yearly organized consumer trade show for the water sports public. Since 1933 these trade shows have been held at the start of the water sports season in Amsterdam at the RAI convention center and near the end of the season at the ''HISWA te water'' (HISWA in water) in IJmuiden yacht harbor. The Teatro Real () is an opera house in Madrid, Spain. Located at the Plaza de Oriente, opposite the Royal Palace, and known colloquially as "''El Real''" (The Royal One). it is considered the top institution of the performing and musical arts in the country and one of the most prestigious opera houses in Europe. Jacques Tati
Jacques Tati (; born Jacques Tatischeff, ; 9 October 1907 – 5 November 1982) was a French mime, filmmaker, actor and screenwriter. In an ''Entertainment Weekly'' poll of the Greatest Movie Directors, he was voted 46th (a list of the top 50 was published), though he had directed only six feature-length films. Tati is perhaps best known for his character Monsieur Hulot, featured in ''Les Vacances de Monsieur Hulot'' (1953), ''Mon Oncle'' (1958), ''Playtime'' (1967) and ''Trafic'' (1971). ''Trafic'' (''Traffic'') is a 1971 comedy film directed by Jacques Tati. ''Trafic'' was the last film to feature Tati's famous character of Monsieur Hulot, and followed the vein of earlier Tati films that lampooned modern society. Tati's use of the word "trafic" instead of the usual French word for car traffic (''la circulation'') may derive from a desire to use the same franglais he used when he called his previous film ''Playtime'', and the primary meaning of ''trafic'' is "exchange of goods", rather than "traffic" per se. The Eurovision Song Contest 1970 was the 15th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest and took place in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Jumping Amsterdam is an international horse show held in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The show is held every year in January and one of the biggest international equestrian indoor events in The Netherlands.
