R. Ramanathan
R. Ramanathan ( – 3 December 2019) was an Indian politician from Puducherry belonging to Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. He was elected twice as a legislator of the Puducherry Legislative Assembly. Biography Ramanathan was elected as a legislator of the Puducherry Legislative Assembly from Kuruvinatham in 1985. He was also elected from this constituency in 1990. He is the father of R. Puducherry Legislative Assembly
The Puducherry Legislative Assembly is the unicameral legislature of the Indian union territory (UT) of Puducherry, which comprises four districts: Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahé and Yanam. Out of eight union territories of India, only three have legislatures and they are Delhi, Puducherry and Jammu and Kashmir. After delimitation shortly after its formation, the Puducherry legislative assembly has 33 seats, of which 5 are reserved for candidates from scheduled castes and 3 members are nominated by the Government of India. 30 out of 33 Members are elected directly by the people on the basis of universal adult franchise and the remaining three are nominated by the central government. Kuruvinatham
Kuruvinatham is a village in Bahour Commune of Bahour taluk in the Union Territory of Puducherry, India. Kuruvinatham serves as a gateway for all buses going between Villupuram - Cuddalore via Thirubuvanai. It lies on the southwestern tip of Bahour Enclave of Puducherry district. Geography Kuruvinatham is bordered by Thirupanampakkam village of Tamil nadu in the west, Karaimedu village of Tamil nadu in the north, Bahour and Parikkalpattu in the east and Soriyankuppam in the south. Road Network Kuruvinatham is connected to Bahour, its Commune Headquarters, by RC-33 road. Cuddalore-Pallinelliyanur Major District Road (MDR) passes through Kuruvinatham. Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam
The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (; DMK) is a political party based in the state of Tamil Nadu where it is currently the ruling party having a comfortable majority without coalition support and the union territory of Puducherry where it is currently the main opposition. It is also one of the two main political parties in Tamil Nadu, along with the rival All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. Since the 2021 state election, it has been the ruling party of Tamil Nadu. The DMK was founded on 17 September 1949 by the former chief minister of Tamil Nadu C. N. Annadurai (Anna) as a breakaway faction from the Dravidar Kazhagam headed by E. V. Ramasami (Periyar).
